Triple A

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees win a close game over the Syracuse Chiefs by a score of 2-1. Starting for Scranton was Darrell Rasner and he gave up 1 earned run on 4 hits in 6 innings of work for his 4rth win. Replacing Rasner to start the 7th inning was Billy Traber. Remember him? He pitched .1 of an inning and got the out. Jose Veras pitched .2 of the inning for his 8th save of the season and now has a ridiculous 1.54 era. The hitting stars of the day for Scranton were shortstop Nick Green and catcher Chris Stewart. Green went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi and Stewart went 1 for 3 with 1 rbi.

Double A

The Trenton Thunder beat the New Britian Rock Cats by a score of 7-5. It looks at though Trenton has been bringing the lumber as of late. Starting for the Trenton Thunder was Jason Jones and he gave up 4 earned runs on 6 hits in 6 innings for the win. Replacing Jones to start the 7th was J.B. Cox and he gave up no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. Wordekemper pitched the 9th inning and gave up 1 earned run on 1 hit for his 4th save. The hitting stars of the day for Trenton were left-fielder Kevin Russo and right-fielder Matt Carson. These lines are amazing… Russo went 4 for 4 with 4 runs scored and is batting .364 on the year. Carson went 4 for 5 with 1 run scored and 5 rbi’s along with a big, huge, amazing, 3, run, BOMB.

A Adv.

The Tampa Yankees lost to the Clearwater Threshers by a score of 5-0. Starting for Tampa was Alfredo Aceves and he gave up 4 earned runs on 4 hits in 5 innings of work for the loss. Replacing Aceves to start the 7th inning was Anthony Claggett and he gave up 1 earned run on 4 hits in 3 innings. There weren’t any hitting stars for Tampa. Tampa was held to 3 hits and they struck out as a team, 15 times. Catcher Jose Gil was the only Tampa player that had multiple hits and he went 2 for 3. It looks as though Philadelphia has a pretty good pitching prospect in Antonio Bastardo. If you look at his numbers, they are ridiculous.

Class A

The Charleston RiverDogs roll over the Columbus CatFish by a score of 8-3. Starting for the RiverDogs was Adam Olbrychowski and he gave up 3 runs on 5 hits in 5 innings but 3 runs were unearned because of a throwing error by center fielder Abraham Almonte. Olbrychowski got the win. Starting the 6th inning was Craig Heyer and he gave up no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Jason Stephens pitched a scoreless 8th. Jonathan Ortiz came in the 9th and pitched a scoreless inning just giving up 1 walk. The hitting stars of the night for the RiverDogs worth mentioning were center-fielder Abraham Almonte, DH Wady Rufino and third baseman Brandon Laird. Almonte went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi along with 2 walks and 2 stolen bases. Rufino went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and Laird went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and 3 BIG rbi’s. The RiverDogs are 19-5 and have the best record in the league.
