The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees won a close game over the Indianapolis Indians by a score of 5-4 in 10 innings. Starting for Scranton was Kei Igawa and he gave up 4 runs on 5 hits in 6 innings of work for the no decision but 1 run was unearned because of a throwing error by first baseman Wilson Betemit. Replacing Igawa to start the 7th inning was Steven White and he pitched 1.1 scoreless innings. Billy Traber replaced White and pitched a perfect inning. J.B. Cox pitched the last 1.2 innings of the game and gave up no runs on 1 hit for the win. The hitting stars of the game for Scranton were right-fielder Jason Lane and DH Eric Duncan. Jason Lane went 2 for 5 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi along with a walk off, big time, big bat, most awesome, home, run, BOMB! Duncan went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored and 3 rbi’s along with a towering, monsterous, I’m going to Disney Land, type of home, run, BOMB!!

Double A

The Trenton Thunder lost to the Altoona Curve by a score of 5-4. Starting for the Trenton Thunder was Chase Wright and he gave up 1 earned run on 5 hits in 6.2 innings of work for the no decision. Replacing Wright was Steven Jackson and he gave up 4 earned runs on 1 hit in .2 of an inning for the loss. Ouch, that must of hurt. Replacing Jackson was Bo Hall and he let in 2 of Jackson’s runners and got credit for blowing the game but he also got credit for not giving up any runs. Hall pitched .2 of an inning and gave up 2 hits. The hitting stars of the game for Trenton were center fielder Austin Jackson, catcher P.J. Pilittere and third baseman Chris Malec. Jackson went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s along with a home run. Pilittere went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi and Malec went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi.

The Tampa Yankees scored 8 runs in the top of the 9th inning to beat the Daytona Cubs by a score of 12-8. Starting for Tampa was Michael Dunn and he did not pitch well giving up 6 earned runs on 8 hits in 5 innings. Replacing Dunn to start the 6th inning was Grant Duff and he pitched 2 perfect innings. Following Duff was Wilkins Arias and he gave up 2 earned runs on 5 hits in 2 innings for the win. The hitting stars for Tampa worth mentioning were third baseman Mitch Hilligoss, left-fielder James Cooper, DH Kyle Anson, short stop Luis Nunez and catcher Ben Blumenthal. Hilligoss went 1 for 5 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s. Cooper went 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored. Anson went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 rbi’s. Nunez went 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 1 rbi along with a huuuuuuge home run! Blumenthal went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 3 rbi’s along with a towering, earth shattering, glass breaking(you know, like from an opera singer), big, home, run, BAAAAHMB!!

Class A

The Charleston RiverDogs won a close game over the Greenville Drive by a score of 6-5. Starting for the RiverDogs was Jairo Heredia and he only pitched 1 inning giving up no runs on 1 hit. Replacing Hereida to start the second inning was Noel Castillo and he gave up 5 runs on 6 hits in 4 innings for the no decision but 1 run was unearned because of a passed ball by catcher Austin Romine. Following Castillo was Wilkins De La Rosa and he pitched 3 scoreless innings on 2 hits for the win. Jonathan Ortiz pitched a perfect 9th inning for his lead leading 14th save. The hitting stars of the game for the RiverDogs were center-fielder Austin Krum and third baseman Brandon Laird. Krum went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 1 rbi along with a big, holy moley, this can’t be happening, I love baseball, humongous type of home, run, BOMB! Laird went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 4 rbi’s along with 2, count em, 2, big, double dipper, jack the tripper from Three’s Company, awesome, home, run, BAAAHHMBS!!!
