The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees won easily over the Syracuse Chiefs by a score of 5-0. Starting for Scranton was Daniel McCutchen and boy did he pitch great pitching a COMPLETE game shut out giving up 5 hits along with 10 strikeouts. Wow! The hitting stars of the game for Scranton worth mentioning were third baseman Cody Ransom, right-fielder Matt Carson and DH Eric Duncan. Ransom went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored. Carson went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and Duncan went 2 for 4 with 3 rbi’s.

Double A

The Trenton Thunder won a close scoring game over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats by a score of 3-2. Starting for Trenton was pitching sensation Eric Hacker and he pitched a decent game giving up 2 earned runs on 3 hits in 5 innings of work for the win. Replacing Hacker to start the 6th inning was Zachary Kroenke and he pitched 1.1 scoreless innings. Following Kroenke was Michael Gardner and he pitched .2 of a perfect inning. Replacing Gardner to start the 8th inning was Mark Melancon and he pitched 2 scoreless innings giving up 1 hit along with 5 strikeouts for the save. The hitting stars of the game for Trenton worth mentioning were short stop Ramiro Pena, third baseman Chris Malec and second baseman Reegie Corona. Pena went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi. Malec went 2 for 5 with 1 rbi and Corona went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi.

The Tampa Yankees got drilled by the Sarasota Reds and lost by a score of 12-5. Starting for Tampa was Michael Dunn and he did not pitch well giving up 5 earned runs on 7 hits in 2.1 innings for the loss. Replacing Dunn was Philip Bartleski and he gave up 3 earned runs on 6 hits in 2.1 innings. Following Bartleski to start the 6th inning was Wilkins Arias and he gave up 1 earned run on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. Edgar Soto came in the game to start the 8th inning and gave up 3 earned runs on 4 hits in 2 innings. The hitting stars of the game for Tampa worth mentioning were second baseman Chris Kunda, DH C.J. Henry and left-fielder Tim Battle. Kunda went 1 for 3 with 2 rbi’s. Henry went 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 1 rbi along with a home run and Battle went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 1 rbi.

Class A

The Charleston RiverDogs won easily over the Augusta GreenJackets by a score of 6-3. Starting for the RiverDogs was Jairo Heredia and he pitched a great game giving up 1 run on 2 hits in 6 innings for the win but the run was unearned because of a throwing error by right fielder David Williams. Replacing Hereida to start the 7th inning was Craig Heyer and he pitched 1.2 scoreless innings giving up 1 hit. Following Heyer was Jonathan Ortiz and he gave up 2 earned runs on 3 hits in .2 of an inning.

The hitting stars of the game for the RiverDogs worth mentioning were catcher Austin Romine, short stop Carmen Angelini and right-fielder David Williams. Romine went 2 for 5 with 1 run scored and 3 rbi’s along with a towering, far, who is this guy who keeps being mentioned as hitting star of the game, wait just a moment before our love will die cause I must know the reason why we say goodbye Wait by White Lion type of home, run, bizzzzzzz… That’s it. Angelini went 2 for 4 with 1 rbi and Williams went 1 for 3 with 1 rbi.

Class A Short-Season

The Staten Island Yankees won easily over the Auburn Doubledays by a score of 6-2. Starting for Staten Island was David Phelps and he gave up 2 earned runs on 4 hits in 5.1 innings of work for the win. Replacing Phelps was Drew Shetrone and he pitched 2.2 perfect innings. Following Shetrone to start the 9th inning was Josue Selenes and he pitched a scoreless inning .

The hitting stars of the game for Staten Island worth mentioning were center fielder Raymond Kruml, DH Jack Rye and right-fielder Daniel Brewer. Kruml went 2 for 5 with 3 “big” rbi’s. Rye went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and Brewer went 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored and 1 rbi.
