The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees won easily over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs by a score of 7-2. Starting for Scranton was Jeff Karstens and he gave up 2 earned runs on 6 hits in 7 innings of work for the win. Replacing Karstens to start the 8th inning was Billy Traber and he pitched 1.1 perfect innings. J.B. Cox pitched a perfect .2 of an inning to end the game. The hitting stars of the game for Scranton worth mentioning were short stop Alberto Gonzalez, DH Eric Duncan and third baseman Cody Ransom. Gonzalez went 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored. Duncan went 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored and 2 rbi’s along with a home run and Ransom went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi along with a home run.

Trenton Thunder/Portland SeaDogs Game Postponed: Rain

The Tampa Yankees lost to the Brevard County Manatees by a score of 5-3. Starting for the Tampa Yankees was Zach McAllister and he gave up 4 runs on 7 hits in 6 innings of work for the loss but 3 runs were unearned because of a fielding error by first baseman Kevin Smith. Replacing McAllister to start the 7th inning was Josh Schmidt and he gave up 1 earned run on 4 hits in 2 innings. Following Schmidt was Jonathan Hovis and he pitched a perfect 9th inning. The hitting stars of the game for Tampa worth mentioning were right-fielder Andres Perez who went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s along with a home run and center fielder Seth Fortenberry who went 2 for 4 with 1 rbi.

Class A

The Charleston RiverDogs lost a close scoring game to the Greensboro Grasshoppers by a score of 8-7. Starting for the RiverDogs was Adam Olbrychowski and he got rocked giving up 7 earned runs on 5 hits in 1.2 innings of work for the loss. Replacing Olbrychowski was Jesse Hoover and he pitched 3.1 scoreless innings giving up 3 hits. Following Hoover to start the 6th inning was Gabe Medina and he gave up 1 earned run on 4 hits in 3 innings. The hitting stars of the game for the RiverDogs worth mentioning were DH Austin Romine, catcher Jesus Montero and second baseman Justin Snyder. Romine went 4 for 4 with 3 runs scored and 2 rbi’s along with 2 home runs. Great game. Montero went 4 for 5 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s and Snyder went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored.

Class A Short-Season

The Staten Island Yankees lost to the Brooklyn Cyclones by a score of 7-4. Starting for Staten Island was Luke Greinke and he gave up 3 earned runs on 2 hits in 1 inning of work for the loss. Replacing Grienke to start the second inning was Jason Kiley and he gave up 4 runs on 5 hits in 2.1 innings but 1 run was unearned because of a fielding error by pitcher Jason Kiley. Following Kiley was Drew Shetrone and he pitched 1.2 scoreless innings giving up 1 hit. Jacinto Gonell came in the game and pitched a scoreless 6th inning giving up 1 hit. Andy Shive came in after Gonell to start the 7th inning and he pitched 2 scoreless innings giving up 2 hits. The hitting stars of the game for Staten Island worth mentioning were DH Mike Lyon, catcher Ben Blumenthal and short stop Addison Maruszak. Lyon went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored. Blumenthal went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi and Maruszak went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s along with a home run.
