Game 1

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees lost to the Richmond Braves in the first game of their double header by a score of 6-3. Starting for Scranton was Ross Ohlendorf and he gave up 4 earned runs on 9 hits in 5.2 innings of work for the loss. Replacing Ohlendorf to get the last out of the 6th inning was Billy Traber and he gave up 1 earned run on 2 hits. Following Traber to pitch the 7th inning was Brian Bruney and he gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits. The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees beat the Richmond Braves in the second game of their double header by a score of 4-1 in the bottom of the 8th inning with a walk off home run. Starting for Scranton was Ian Kennedy and he had a no hitter with 2 outs left in the game but second baseman Chris Basak made an error which would of given Kennedy a no hitter. Ian Kennedy’s final line was 7 innings pitched, 1 unearned run on 1 hit for the no decision. Scott Strickland struck out the side in the 8th inning for the win. The hitting stars of the game for Scranton worth mentioning were short stop Alberto Gonzalez who went 1 for 3 with 1 rbi and left-fielder Ben Broussard who hit a walk off 3 run home run. Broussard went 1 for 4 with 3 rbi’s along with a home run.

Double A

This game was completed early because of rain. The Trenton Thunder lost a close scoring game to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats by a score of 4-3. Starting for Trenton was Eric Hacker and he gave up 3 runs on 5 hits in 5 innings of work for the loss but 1 run was unearned because of a throwing error by Eric Hacker on the pickoff attempt.
