The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees won easily over the Rochester Red Wings by a score of 7-3. Starting for Scranton was Jeff Karstens and he gave up 3 earned runs on 9 hits in 5.2 innings of work for the win. Steven Jackson faced the last batter of the 6th inning and got him out. Replacing Jackson was Brian Bruney and he pitched a scoreless 7th inning. In the 8th inning, Billy Traber pitched to 1 batter, gave up a hit and was taken out. Chris Britton pitched a scoreless 8th and 9th inning giving up 1 hit. The hitting stars of the game for Scranton worth mentioning were short stop Alberto Gonzalez, center fielder Matt Carson, first baseman Juan Miranda and catcher Chris Stewart. The Trenton Thunder lost a low scoring game to the Portland Sea Dogs by a score of 2-1. Starting for Trenton was Phil Coke and he pitched a scoreless 1st inning striking out 3 batters but was taken out of the game because he was traded to the Pirates.
