The Staten Island Yankees lost a close scoring game to the Brooklyn Cyclones by a score of 6-5. Starting for Staten Island was Luke Greinke and he gave up 4 earned runs on 7 hits in 5 innings of work for the loss. Replacing Greinke to start the 6th inning was Jason Kiley and he gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits in 2 innings. Following Kiley to pitch the 8th inning was Daniel Kapala and he gave up 1 earned run on 2 hits. The hitting stars of the game for Staten Island worth mentioning were center fielder Raymond Krum, catcher Ben Blumenthal, left-fielder Taylor Grot and short stop Brian Chavez. Krum went 2 for 5 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi. Blumenthal went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored. Grote went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi and short stop Brian Chavez went 1 for 4 with 2 rbi’s.

Rookie

The DSL Yankees1 lost to the DSL Giants by a score of 9-5. Starting for the DSL Yankees1 was Harold Garce and he gave up 4 runs on 4 hits in 3 innings of work for the loss but 1 run was unearned because of a throwing error by catcher Nicolas Ventura on the pickoff attempt. Replacing Garce to start the 4th inning was Deivi Mojica and he pitched 3 scoreless innings giving up 5 hits and has a 3.27 era. Following Mojica to start the 7th inning was John Ramirez and he gave up 5 runs on 6 hits in 2 innings but 1 run was unearned because of a fielding error by shortstop Ronald Morillo.

The hitting stars of the game for the DSL Yankees1 worth mentioning were DH Ali Castillo, right-fielder Yaquensi Romero and left fielder Alberto Acosta. Castillo went 1 for 4 with 2 rbi’s. Romero went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and Acosta went 1 for 4 with 2 rbi’s.

Rookie

The DSL Yankees2 lost to the DSL Diamondbacks/Reds by a score of 7-2. Starting for the DSL Yankees2 was Victor Beriguete and he gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits in 2 innings of work for the no decision. Replacing Beriguete to start the third inning was Juan Heredia and he gave up 3 runs on 5 hits in 3 innings of work for the loss but 2 runs were unearned because of a fielding error by shortstop Jose Toussen. Yobanny Reyes started the 6th inning and gave up 3 earned runs on 3 hits in .1 of an inning. Following Reyes was Dawerd Cruz and he pitched 1.2 scoreless innings giving up 1 hit. Maicon Alves pitched a scoreless 8th inning giving up 1 hit.

The hitting stars of the game for the DSL Yankees2 worth mentioning were center fielder Julio Rojas who went 3 for 3 with 1 rbi along with a walk and third baseman Keny Rodriguez who went 1 for 2 with 1 rbi along with 2 walks.

Rookie

The GCL Yankees lost a close scoring game to the GCL Indians by a score of 7-6. Starting for the GCL Yankees was Christian Garcia and he gave up 4 earned runs on 7 hits in 2.2 innings of work for the loss. Replacing Garcia was Israel Batista and he struck out the only batter he faced to end the third inning. Following Batista to start the 4rth inning was Manuel Banuelos and he gave up 3 earned runs on 4 hits in 4 innings. Michael O’Brien pitched a scoreless 8th inning giving up 2 hits. Matthew Richardson pitched a scoreless 9th inning giving up 1 hit. The hitting stars of the game for the GCL Yankees worth mentioning were DH Neall French, third baseman Spencer Lucian and short stop Emerson Landoni. French went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s along with a home run. Lucian went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi and Landoni went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 1 rbi.
