Triple A

Well, Phil Hughes can always have a career in blogging. The Scranton/Wilkes Barre Yankees won a high scoring game over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs by a score of 13-12. Starting for Scranton was star blogger Phil Hughes and he gave up 8 earned runs on 10 hits in 3.1 innings of work for the no decision. Call the Twins back and tell them that we’ll do that trade now. Replacing Hughes was Zachary Kroenke and he gave up 2 earned runs on 3 hits in 3.2 innings. Following Kroenke to start the 8th inning was Scott Patterson and he gave up 2 earned runs on 2 hits in 2 innings for the win.

The hitting stars of the game for Scranton worth mentioning were left-fielder Justin Christian, third baseman Eric Duncan and short stop Nick Green. Christian went 4 for 6 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi. Duncan went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored and 3 rbi’s and Green went 2 for 5 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s. This is what happens when you put Christian down at triple A, a place he doesn’t belong. He gets 4 hits.
*Note* Melky Cabrera went 1 for 6 and struck out twice. Every position player had a great hitting game except him.

Double A

The Trenton Thunder lost a low scoring game to the Reading Phillies by a score of 2-1. Starting for Trenton was Jeffrey Marquez and he gave up 2 earned runs on 6 hits in 6 innings of work for the loss. Replacing Marquez to start the 7th inning was Jhonny Nunez and he pitched 3 scoreless innings giving up 1 hit. His era is 1.59. The hitting star of the game for Trenton worth mentioning was catcher P.J. Pilittere who went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored.
*Note* Austin Jackson went 0 for 2 with 2 strikeouts.

A Adv.

Game 1

The Tampa Yankees beat the Dunedin Blue Jays by a score of 3-1 in the first game of their double header. Starting for Tampa was Wilkins De La Rosa and he gave up 1 run on 4 hits in 5 innings of work for the win but the run was unearned because of fielding error by second baseman Luis Nunez. De La Rosa is pitching better now than he did at Charleston. His era is 1.10. Replacing De La Rosa to start the 6th inning was Michael Dunn and he pitched 2 scoreless innings for his first save. The hitting stars of the game for Tampa worth mentioning were second baseman Luis Nunez who went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi and third baseman Mitch Hilligoss who went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi.

Game 2

The Tampa Yankees got destroyed and lost to the Dunedin Blue Jays by a score of 11-0 in the second game of their double header. Starting for Tampa was Alan Horne and he pitched poorly giving up 9 earned runs on 9 hits in 1.2 innings of work for the loss. That’s terrible. Replacing Horne was Jason Stephens and he gave up 1 earned run on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. Following Stephens to start the 6th inning was Rob Semerano and he gave up 1 run on 4 hits in 2 innings but the run was unearned because of a passed ball by Kyle Anson. The hitting star of the game for Tampa worth mentioning was third baseman Luis Nunez who went 2 for 4.

Class A

Game 1

The Charleston RiverDogs lost to the Columbus Catfish by a score of 2-0 in the first game of their double header. Starting for the RiverDogs was Lance Pendleton and he gave up 2 runs on 6 hits in 6.1 innings of work for the loss but 1 run was unearned because of a missed catch error by first baseman Brandon Laird. Stephen Artz pitched .2 of a perfect inning. The hitting star of the game for the RiverDogs worth mentioning was DH Austin Romine who went 1 for 3. The RiverDogs were held to 2 hits.

Game 2

The second game of the double header between Charleston and Columbus was suspended because of rain. It will be completed on 8/23/08 at 5:05 PM ET

Starting for Scranton was Kei Igawa and he gave up 4 earned runs on 8 hits in 5 innings of work along with 8 strikeouts for the win. Igawa does that a lot.
