by Tim Povtak ORLANDO -- Elton Brand sure seems like a nice enough guy, respectful, courteous, thoughtful, engaging. He works hard, too. Yet he also is beginning to look like an albatross hanging around the neck of the Philadelphia 76ers, the guy with the contract that will prevent them from ...

If at the end of 48 minutes yours
is the team with fewer points, you haven't exactly
lost. You're just working on sets, evaluating rotations, and consciously deciding that the score wasn't important. So, trying to grasp how the 76ers might play this ...

Let the Brand Bashing Begin
Depressed Fan —
... this point. I haven't seen anything which points toward him making a full recovery from his achilles injury. The shoulder isn't an issue. Last season, before the shoulder injury, I saw signs that we was rounding into form, this is why I'm still holding out hope. Through the preseason and the first game of the season, those signs haven't returned. But before we sign off the failure of the Elton Brand contract, can we let him play more than 25 minutes in a meaningful game? Apparently, Tim Povtak of Fanhouse can't, and he won't be the last to jump the gun. ...

... and sure it still seems like Samuel Dalembert has a hard time staying out of foul trouble, but the Sixers are 2-1, and I'll take it. Now some, like NBA fanhouse's TIm Povtak took one look at the Sixers versus the Orlando Magic and questioned Elton Brand's value to the team. It's better than even money that Brand won't be a 20-10 guy with the Sixers, but I do expect him to average a double-double for the season. That's more than respectable, but what has me feeling the future is bright is the play of our young core, Marreese Speights, Thaddeus Young, Lou Williams and Andre ...

The Clock is Ticking on Elton Brand and the Philadelphia 76ers
emptythebench.com 16 days ago — Is the Elton Brand of old gone for good? If the Sixers drag their heels much longer and keep waiting for the double-double machine they thought they signed in ‘08 to return, they’re running a serious risk of flushing $82 million down the toilet with little to nothing to show for it.

Nothing magical about the Sixers in their opener
sixerscourt.com 26 days ago — The final score may have been 120-106, but the game wasn’t nearly as close as the score indicated. Granted the Sixers are not in the same class as the Magic. But the Magic outscored the Sixers 41-20 in the second quarter and were leading by 29 after the third quarter.
