Los Angeles Galaxy officials have confirmed that the club is in negotiations to play a friendly match with the Iranian national team sometime in May. Galaxy assistant general manager Tom Payne has been working on the arrangements. While they have not been finalized, Payne acknowledged that the two organizations have entered the "preliminary stages." One important step was securing the assistance of the United States Soccer Federation, which must approve and formally invite any visiting team from another country. Thanks to jay-to-the-z for the heads up that Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy are working on scheduling a friendly match against the Iranian National Team in May. We’re not sure if an invasion of said country would take the “keen wing-ding-ness” out of the friendly, but we have to imagine that to be the case. (Picture of the Galaxy’s David Beckham from ye olde Star Tribune last October at the Dome).

According to ESPN's Andrea Canales, the Galaxy is in negotiations to play a friendly match with the Iranian national team sometime in May. GM Alexi Lalas was part of the U.S. team that played against Iran in the 1998 World Cup.
