The Padres are holding an open competition for a 5th starter to hold serve until Mark Prior is ready to join the Friars. First up, and slight favorite heading into spring, Shawn Estes had the first shot in Cactus League play on Friday...the results may have opened the door for a few others to throw (yes, literally) their name into the hat.
