mookie "Childress and Arroyo both have an escape provision in their contracts which enables them to return to the NBA after each of the next two seasons if they choose."
Something tells me that neither them will be jumping ship after being treated like Kings in their respective leagues and suddenly being the top gun again -- it'll be like High School all over...
-
Oddsboard And the trend continues...We can't blame Boykins, Childress or Arroyo. It is exactly that mookie, it will be like high school all over and who didn't love being the top athlete in their school or on their team? Boykins also will get marketing money in Italy which NBA players can not receieve. Earl is a solid player and hustler and proved that he can play in the NBA, now he will prove his worth in Italy.

And One Kellex! What in the world?? I've never heard you so mad. Should I not have posted the link to my Ron Harper piece earlier today - you know which one I mean, right?
Also, oh to be in high school again and this time be popular. :)

BadenBall Again, I can't really hate on Earl, good for him for making that cheddar, but this trend is some what disturbing. Kind of like how some American players are playing on European teams in the Olympics. I still can't figure out how this is being allowed. Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of civic duty and pride associated with the Olympics. I can understand wanting to be a part of the Olympic festivies, but at what cost?

Still Not Buying the LeBron-to-Euro Business
The Sporting Blog —
Earl Boykins, now with Italy. Kindly proceed with your life as originally planned.
Speaking of Euro-defection, I'm not backing down from my assertion that LeBron won't leave America. This despite Chris Broussard's report—from someone on the inside—that the King would consider Europe for the $50 million a year. According to Broussard, this would be "to popularize the game and himself overseas," which seems more than a little unnecessary.

... Even more enticing to James has to be the revelation that Earl Boykins’ recently signed contract with Italy’s Virtus Bologna includes income from Bologna’s sponsorship and marketing arms. THE CHARLOTTE BLOGCAT —
ESPN’s announcement that “Earl Boykins has joined the growing legion of veteran role players unable to resist the lure of European riches” raises a critically important question: how many people does it take to qualify for a “legion”? Depending on how you slice it, Boykins’ legion totals either 9 (anyone who played in the NBA last year who will play in Europe next year) or 3 (previously exclusive NBA players who will play in Europe next year). No wait—that should be eight and two, because one of those legionnaires is Carlos Arroyo, and he’s going to Tel Aviv, ...
