These are your rankings. They are based solely on results taken from an online survey of baseball fans in March, when we asked readers to rate their hometown ballpark in 10 categories. MLB ballpark ratings: Fans vote Dome #26
Published 4/30/2008 by Michael Rand at Randball
... Sports Illustrated has a rather interesting ranking of all the ballparks in the Majors, as voted upon by the fans in several different categories. Perhaps not surprisingly, the Dome — which will be a-rockin’ in an hour or so for the White Sox afternoon special, as long as you consider a tepid indoor hum on a sunny day to be a-rockin’ — came in 26th out of 30 when all was added up. Now, this isn’t exactly scientific, and we do take issue with some of the fans’ conclusions in the big picture (our favorite experiences are in ...

"This year, with a groundswell calling for his head, I find myself defending the man. As you no doubt are aware, the Blue Jays' clutch numbers reveal that they are clutching both their bats and their throats far too firmly." • SI ranked the ballparks. And Cleveland comes in first. • New York Rangers forward Sean Avery was rushed ...

There’s No Place Like Home

Progressive Field Commentor (and tipster) extraordinaire MoBot was kind enough to pass along SI.com’s fan survey regarding MLB ballparks.  Though the Tribe is a miserable 6-9 so far at home, fans will be glad to see that Jacobs Progressive Field has been deemed the best ballpark in the majors. All stadia were ranked on the following items: - Affordability - Food - Team Quality - Tradition - Atmosphere - Fan IQ - Hospitality - Promotions - Traffic - Neighborhood So, it appears that all of those Travis Hafner promotions that we haven’t appreciated are actually ...

SI: MLB Ballpark Rankings

SI: MLB Ballpark Rankings Essentially, this is a measure of how satisfied fans are with their hometown ballpark experience. The happiest? Cleveland. Progressive Field, home of the Indians, finished first with Milwaukee’s Miller Park a close runner-up. The Florida Marlins brought up the rear, which is not surprising considering they play in a football stadium under the oppressively hot South Florida sun.

In the News (4/30)

... - Miller Park ranked second in SI.com's MLB Ballpark Rankings. It finished first in food and promotions. I've been saying for years that Milwaukee fans don't appreciate how nice of a ballpark Miller is, but since these rankings are based on hometown fan polling, I guess I'm wrong. Wrigley finished 15th. I would like to argue their #8 ranking in fan IQ... More ...

Cliff Notes: Indians Say There's No Place Like Home [MLB Closer]
Published 5/1/2008 by Rick at Deadspin
... Cliff Lee and Progressive Field were both winners on Wednesday; although after the game one went out and celebrated, and the other spent the night covered with a tarp. Cleveland's stadium took the top spot in the Sports Illustrated fan survey for best Major League ballpark, and inspired by his home yard's impressive win — or perhaps just hopped up on caffeine — Lee went out and won his fifth straight start, 8-3 over the Mariners. Poor Seattle; their stadium only finished sixth. ...

Thoughts on Fenway Park: Where Do We Go From Here?
Published 5/1/2008 by Jimmy at The House That Dewey Built
... Sports Illustrated recently ran an interesting little poll, asking fans how they rate their baseball stadiums based on a variety of factors, including atmosphere, food, neighborhood, among others. Surprising to some, but not as surprising to some others (myself included), Fenway Park had a rather lackluster showing, placing 21st out of 30 in the overall ranking. ...
