Michigan Fans: Assume Fetal Position, Begin Crying
Published 11/26/2007 by Maize n Brew Dave
Please don't let this be true. MGoBlog is reporting/rumormongering that Kirk Ferentz has been offered the Michigan head football coaching job. He is also rumormongering that Kirk Ferentz has/will accept the position based on posts at HawkeyeLounge.com. The acceptance of said position is noted to be speculative at this point, but it is still scary enough to make me nauseous. Please. Let this not be true. Ferentz is not a good coach. He is not a good recruiter. He is not a top 25 coach and possibly not even a top 50 coach. I have no idea why or ...

... which first reported Lloyd Carr's retirement is now reporting sources are saying Iowa's Kirk Ferentz has been offered, and may indeed accept, the Michigan job. That groan you are hearing is coming from Ann Arbor, where Michigan fans are desperate for Les Miles or failing him an NFL coach like Jon Gruden and failing him a name like Cincinnati's Brian Kelley. And while Ferentz would be better than any of Michigan's current crop of assistants (like Lloyd Carr disciple Mike DeBord), Ferentz will not thrill anyone in Ann Arbor. While his name makes sense (he's ...
CURIOUS INDEX, 11/26/07

... F is for Ferentz. Hide the bleach if you live with a Michigan fan. Kirk Ferentz may already be the next Michigan head coach. Egads. More on this later, but when you run your football program like a Communist state, the Politburo doesn’t have to explain who they hire, or why, no matter how obvious the reason may be: because Kirk Ferentz is the Mac version of Lloyd Carr. He’s more accessible, a bit shinier, but really just the same thing in different packaging. If you loved Brezhnev, you’ll love Yuri Andropov! We mean, Carr and Ferentz! ...

Kirk Ferentz Offered Michigan Job and More College Football Coaching Rumors
Published 11/26/2007 at FanIQ Blog
... Michigan - MGoBlog has been reporting over the last 24 hours that Kirk Ferentz has been offered the job. There's even a few rumors he's accepted. If that would end up to be true - sign me for tickets for the next time the Wolverines visit Iowa City. Wow. There's no doubt Ferentz is a great coach and has taken some untalented Hawkeye teams (according to recruiting sites) and made them elite. It's a scary thought what he could do in Ann Arbor. Les Miles is obviously still very much apart of the discussion, especially with a BCS title out of the ...

... , of course. (As an aside: Gee, shaky decision-making; losing a couple of games to teams you should beat; an offense that is predictable by formation and personnel … why does that all sound so familiar? While Miles would fit right in at Michigan with that M.O., maybe I should be happy that the Wolverines are rumored to be looking in another direction — although, just for the record, I’m not.) Seeing as both Miles and Kentucky’s Rich Brooks have been honored in this space before (and speaking of people who won’t be the next Michigan coach), I’m going a different direction this ...
