Momentum is building for an NHL game to be played at Yankee Stadium next winter, which would likely be the final event held at the ballpark before the Yanks move across the street to their new digs in 2009. The're also some buzz about the Boston Bruins playing an outdoor game at Fenway Park, with the Red Sox no doubt intrigued by the prospect of one final Zamboni lap for Ted Williams. [link]

The Yankees might figure to be a bit hesitant about having the final pro sporting event at the old Stadium be a hockey game.

Rangers inquire about Cujo

Don Meehan, the agent for Curtis Joseph, told The Post that Ranger GM Glen Sather has inquired about the 40-year-old unsigned free-agent goaltender. Meehan met with the GM here yesterday to begin work on contract extensions for both Lundqvist and Dan Girardi.
