Plus, game-day news wrap There are reports this morning in El Salvador’s La Prensa Grafica newspaper that the Earthquakes are close to signing Ramón Sánchez, captain of that country’s national team. Sánchez, 27, was recently released by his former club, Alianza FC, a domestic side that plays in the nation’s capital, San Salvador. He has appeared 52 times for his country, scoring two goals in the process. The Earthquakes were not available for comment on their possible interest in Sánchez, but his availability and his preferred role in central midfield make the move seem at least plausible, if not likely.
