Needs And Wants
In the build-up to the ever-disappointing watershed that is 12:00 noon on July 1st in NHL circles, I have been reading more and more rumours. More and more speculation. Not wishing to be the one blogger to shy away from putting forth my lopsided opinion, I wanted to weigh in on the issues of Canadiens needs. A commonly held notion is that the Canadiens will lose Brisebois, Streit, Smolinski ...
Free Agent Frenzy
I find roster management in the NHL to be fascinating. Things aren't going well? Make a 7 player trade to shake things up. July 1st? Sign 14 players and take a look at the next season. Chemistry in this sport is crazy. To catch you up with the Wild, the team of record here at the Times, the rights to Brian Rolston have been traded to the Lightning, and it looks as though he won't sign there.
Happy Canada Day Hosers
July 1st is such a joyous time of year. For me it always signifies the start of summer for me. School is out and there’s always somewhere to enjoy a frosty beverage on our country’s birthday. July 1st is also now known as “FREE AGENT FRENZY” for NHL fans. It’s quickly becoming a must watch day, it is in the mold of TRADE DEADLINE DAY and the ENTRY DRAFT. ...
FHF’s Stripperiffic Guide to 2008 NHL Free Agency
We finally thought of an excuse to picture our favorite Featured Performer, Ms. Jenna Jameson. Seriously, there's a reference to her in there somewhere. NHL Free Agents are alot like strippers. Come July 1st, NHL GM's will be like the guy who just broke up with girlfriend - let's call him Bob. The ex may be a crazy jealous bitch sucking Bob’s will to live, like a 35-year old 12-goal ...

Theodore headed for free agency
From Adrian Dater of the Denver Post: Talks between the Avalanche and Jose Theodore have broken down, and it now appears the veteran goalie will test the NHL open market beginning Tuesday. "I would say we are going to July 1st," Theodore's agent, Don Meehan, said today. "There's a chance we could still negotiate with (the Avalanche) after that, but right now it's looking like we're going to ...
Hockey Top 5
The top 5 UFA’s well the five that could get the biggest buzz come July 1st. 5. Jaromir Jagr (RW) — New York Rangers Why?: Well honestly New York New York has been a little cold to him in the past year. His slow start allowed him to basically become a UFA. Now the question is does he actually stay in Rangerland? I believe he more than likely will. But if he tests the ...
The fear that is Free Agency
So July 1st marks the start of the Free Agency in the NHL. I for one, am terrified. Not only because Mittens and Hagman have yet to be locked in (get on this HullJack), but this article put fear in me I didn’t know existed. By no means, do I want Sean Avery even in my city, not even on Harry Hines. Oh Baby Hockey Jesus, please do not allow this to happen.
