The Chicago Fire have reached the halfway point of the 2009 MLS season and are in first place in the Eastern Conference. Better yet, while they have 24 points, just like D.C. United have, the Fire have played two less games, standing at 6-3-6 over 15 games. Preparing for Saturday's home game against Columbus, Fire coach Denis Hamlett saw the first half as a relatively good start, with a couple of asterisks attached.
