First Reactions To Bob Costas' Foray Into Sports Media
So I actually decided to not watch the "event" live so I wouldn't post any rash opinions on the subject. I actually tried watching the whole thing at midnight and take it all in as an unbiased person, and here's what I came up with..... 1. Blogs are evil and not journalistic. 2. Sports Radio is also evil, but somehow accepted (but they still hate blogs somehow) 3. Players feel like they ... [link]

Wednesday 04/30 A.M. Quickie:Bissinger, Suns, Scherzer, BCS, More
Published 4/30/2008 by DanShanoff.com at Dan Shanoff
I should have led my Sporting News column today with the Buzz Bissinger thing, because that's all anyone who reads blogs is going to be hearing about or talking about this morning. See the post just below this one for my take just after the segment was over, along with links to posts from Will Leitch himself, along with Brian from Awful Announcing. UPDATE: Bissinger is No. 58 on Google Trends' Top 100 most-searched terms at 9:30 a.m. ET. It is likely the highest he has ever been ranked. Tracking... Meanwhile, the Suns should be ...

Buzz Bissinger vs. Will Leitch: The Day After
Published 4/30/2008 by DanShanoff.com at Dan Shanoff
The lead of the usual Quickie post was getting too unwieldy with Bissinger updates, so I am breaking it into its own post: I should have led my Sporting News column today with the Buzz Bissinger thing, because that's all anyone who reads blogs is going to be hearing about or talking about this morning. I had this to say last night just after the segment was over, along with links to posts from Will Leitch himself, along with Brian from Awful Announcing. UPDATE: Orson/Spencer from EDSBS has an amazing post-Bissinger post. ...

... tirade that Fright Night Lights author Buzz Bissinger spewed at Deadspin chief Will Leitch last night on HBO’s Costas Now, so I’m probably ill-equipped to respond to it. Tons of sports blogs have chimed in already with intelligent responses to that rant, including the target of all that vitriol himself — who, in all honestly, reacted far better to this attack than I would have. Here are a few more worthwhile responses: Awful Announcing Every Day Should Be Saturday FanHouse Fire ...

Weighing In On Sports Blogging In The Wake of "Bissinger vs Leitch"
Published 4/30/2008 by BDoc at The Sports Oasis
... feel the need to say "thanks" to Will Leitch because the way he handled himself on the Costas Show last night made me proud to be a blogger. Some people(I'm looking at you Bissinger) are never going to get it. Maybe they're ignorant, maybe they're afraid, maybe it's a combination of both. But that won't ever stop me from putting my take on sports out into the world via the blogosphere, and I'm glad that there are others out there like Will Leitch, and Orson Swindle, and Brian Powell(and a lot more) to stick up for the "craft" when others feel the need to ...

If you don’t mind me saying so, that’s a fuck of a lot of profanity and abuse heaped on by those supposed guardians of the Right Way of doing things.  Glass houses, stones, throwing….right, you know the deal. Takes on the program: Both Will and AJ from Deadspin, Orson at EDSBS, Brian at Awful Announcing, D-Wil at Sports on My Mind (who agrees with Bissinger), ...

This is Selita Ebanks. Osi Umenyiora is a lucky, lucky man. We’ve started to pick some interns, but there are still “resumes” to get to. You’ll see their work shortly. We do hope to respond to everyone. After the jump, Reggie Bush, miscaptioned. Buzz is Buzzy: Dodger Thoughts, Double Nickels, Deadspin, AJ Daulerio, Scott’s Shots, Fire Joe Morgan, Fanhouse, Awful Announcing, all have a take on the HBO show last night. NBA playoff ratings are through the roof. (USA ...

... face in the professional world. Some of them probably grew up with little responsibility and had many of their needs met with the help of others. You can read this in some their posts every day. If you read the responses on the Costas NOW show from some in the blogsphere you can hear that they can’t handle the criticism. A few of these guys I like…but they come off as spoiled brats. I will link a few…but a word of caution… some of these posts are not suitable for all eyes. Awuful Announcing ...

This Week's Links (4/28-5/2)

So I understand that Braylon Edwards was on Costas Now this week? Okay, let's think about this logically. Watch the video (here, here). Then read the responses from Posnanski, TBL, FJM, AA, and Leitch. Who, again, is bringing down the level of discourse? The Sports VU's 08-09 SEC Basketball preview. Odds on which NBA player is most likely to be the next to admit to marijuana use. The Angels brought up their top prospect, Nick Adenhart, who has already undergone elbow ...

Beyond Leitch’s simple but polite defense of blogging on the air, there have been numerous, truly thoughtful posts in response to Bissinger’s attacks on the medium. Leitch penned his own after appearing on the broadcast. Michael Schur of FJM did the same. Shanoff defends his brethren. Awful Announcing had words on top of the video. And our own blogfather has a response in two parts over at the ...

... Freakin' Buzz Bissinger's absurdity has led me to have some strangely introspective moment of blogging sentimentality. Somehow Mr. Bissinger, Reigning Master of the Kingdom of the Old School, has forced (well, maybe forced is the wrong word...perhaps, 'indirectly influenced') me me to re-visit my bloggorial intentions. Am I just another mindless Internet troll whose actions are patently dictated by mob mentality...a wicked enabler of glibness and profanity? Is The Legend of Cecilio Guante dedicated to "cruelty, journalistic dishonesty, speed..." ...

“RADIO EXPERT” COSTAS TELLS SPORTS FANS THEY’RE TOO STUPID TO KNOW WHAT THEY TRULY LIKE
