It would make sense that LBJ has to get a cover soon, so I wouldn't argue with this hardcore investigative journalism, however I should note that the menu screens on many of these games have rotating players (it could scroll through say 20 different guys, depending on when you load it up).

Not that Mookie is familiar with every single game out there and plays them incessantly until he is familiar with the menu screen rotation . . . :)

Obviously, LeBron is already a superstar, but it almost feels like the time is right for him to be almost universally accepted as the best player in the league assuming he has a monster '08-'09 season. I think Kobe's star dropped a bit in the Finals and this silly notion that analysts have that Kobe is unquestionably the best in the league may be going by the wayside.

I have to agree with you. However LBJ will always struggle to get the support from the media that he so richly deserves until he gets the supporting cast beside him that can take the Cavs to the Finals again.

Unfortunately with the Celtics in the position they are and teams like Philly coming up, it looks like the odds are stacked against them until Mr Ferry can pull something Pritchardesque* together.

      * there's my Blazers bias coming out

If the Cavs would have won that Game 7 against Boston, it would have sent LeBron into a different stratosphere. Still, you're right. The Cavs have to become the dominant team in the East, but I don't know if it will happen this year.

By the way, nothing wrong with having a Blazers bias. I used to love them back in the Clyde Drexler years and I can't wait to see them play this season.

Now why did you have to go and ruin it like that for her!??!

            Quick, get the smelling salts.

Hijacking this in the Portland direction, yes the Blazers have a nice contingent of young talent ready to be unleashed on the league this season. Along with the existing guys that pushed for the playoffs last season, Oden, Fernandez, Bayless and Batum will all be fun to watch. Getting out of the West is no easy task however...

I guess it depends on your definition of the word 'lost.' I, for one, don't believe in differentiating between winners and losers. I don't like to make people feel bad. That was just a typo in my last post. What I meant to write was, "Everyone's a winner!"

See you at the championship parade!

    I have a question.

Am I a bandwagon fan, because I have liked the Cavs since the day they got him? I have stuck with them through some bad stretches and zero supporting cast.

I pull for the team and want them to give him a little more help. I hope Boobie becomes an awesome player and they get some dependable role players for him.

I used to be a Jazz fan. I grew up in Utah. They are still under Sloan but it is not the same. Stockton to Malone etc...

I will be a King James fan till he retires. Period. He is the best. He has that special something that very few others have in the world of sports. I am not saying he is Jordan, but he is LeBron and that is better than most already.

I also share the same birthday with LeBron James and Tiger Woods. 12/30 :-)

Much like Michael Corleone when he first saw Apollonia, you have been struck by LeBron lightning. You're in good company.

You're not a bandwagon fan. In fact, you're pretty much like the 20,000 people that fill the Q every night nowadays.

Better your approach than the one I took, which involved sitting through the Ricky Davis-Darius Miles years...ugh...I can't believe I just brought those up...I think I need to go take a shower.

Darius Miles... urgh... <I just vommited a little in my mouth>

That is a dirty name in Portland. Who will be foolish enough to sign him up next?

Cover Boy?
Published 7/16/2008 by Rick at WaitingForNextYear
[image] I find it hard to believe that LeBron hasn’t been on a video game cover yet. I don’t play many games anymore, and so I guess I assumed he had been on covers previously. The Sporting Blog tipped us to the story that NBA ‘09 might be featuring our own all-time points leader on its cover. Why do we say might? Well the pictures and information that was released doesn’t say for certain, but the menu shot sure looks like a potential cover repeat. The Sporting Blog was still awaiting confirmation from Sony, so we’ll keep our ears and eyes posted. Meanwhile LeBron and his ...

Bigger than You or I, Kobe or LeBron

( Yessir, that's a flag made of Hyperdunks. God bless America.) The Americans had their creation and their domination, and their ultimate tragic fall at the hands of hubris. We've heard it all: ...
