Florida Star Allowed To Lose As Much Money As He Wants [Ncaa]
Deadspin —
... - this is America, after all - but if the NCAA is going to have such a strict stance on gambling, seems kind of like a double-standard to let this one slide by because, oh I don't know, he's "the best player in the SEC"? Obviously, all of this news means nothing unless we can get his most likely hilarious online poker handle. Nick Calathes: Know when to fold them
Alligator Army —
... and Yahoo all imply that Calathes is in the clear, just stupid for losing $600 in online poker. However, Yahoo's reporting of former walkon Michael Weisenberg might be the more troubling factoid. Apparently, Weisenberg has dabbled in drugs and now is a hanger on, despite leaving the basketball team. Although, if you had to guess who was the one who started leaking information about the inquiry (investigation I think is too strong a word here), Weisenberg is my guess. ...
College Hoops: Duke Survives, Alabama Doesn’t
The Big Lead —
Tepid start to the college hoops season this weekend. In case you had forgotten the season began, here’s what you may have missed:
Saturday:
Decent career opener for heralded Memphis recruit Tyreke Evans: 19 points in 24 minutes in a romp over Fairfield.
No. 1 UNC cruised over Pennsylvania without Tyler Hansbrough, and its leading scorer was - surprise! - freshman center Tyler Zeller, who scored 18.
JUCO phenom Bobby Maze (the new Chris Lofton, but nothing like him) had a solid first game with the Vols - 12 points, 10 assists - in a 39-point triumph.
UAB, one of our “teams to ...

Florida Gators Win Big; 70-19 Over The Citadel
thebullgator.blogspot.com 11/22/2008 — Scoring came early and often for Florida as they marched to a 70-19 win over The Citadel. Although any blow out would’ve been acceptable, Florida needed a score this lopsided to show the nation they are still on one of the...
