Game 1 Recap: Caps 5, Flyers 4

... . Get well soon, kid (and kudos to everyone from Flyers bench boss John Stevens to the Flyers bloggers for not griping about the whistle not blowing). That building was loud. And red. Honestly, the Caps could have been playing Phoenix and there wouldn't have been any fewer visiting fans in the house - I'd bet that was the fewest Flyers fans ever at a Caps game in D.C./Maryland. Seriously. Once the Caps' weakside defensemen started pinching (i.e. in the third period), the Caps dominated. Danny Briere is a great villain. My guess is Number Eight will be welcomed similarly in ...

... UPDATE: Patrick Thoresen, the Flyer who went down right before Green’s goal in the above clip, might require the removal of one of his testicles, balls, nuts, what have you. That slapper hit him right in the man-bits. Don’t hockey players wear cups? If not, they clearly should consider doing so. Anyway, here’s to hoping his reproductive parts are okay. ...
Nightmare Fuel From the NHL Playoffs [Ahhhhhhh!]

... Holy sweet fucking God! I'm just going to sit here for a minute while appreciating my non-destroyed testicles. Continue after the jump for last night's scores, because we might as well talk about hockey as long as we're here. Oh, and a big thanks to Enrico at the 700 Level for making this the first thing I watched this morning. ...

... blocked a shot from Mike Green with his nether regions and went down in a heap. Just so you know, Green also scored two goals in addition to taking out Thoresen - one when Thoresen was still down on the ground writhing in pain. Man, somebody give Mike Green a raise.
Anyway, Thoresen is in danger of losing a part of his package. I think I speak for men everywhere when I say we wish him the best of luck. Felix Pie also sends his regards.

Eulogy: Remembering the 2007-08 Philadelphia Flyers

... Parent, all they'd be able to muster up was a Ryan Parent, when they needed a Moses Malone, they'd get smacked around by Ryan Malone, and when they needed a big goal from Jeff Carter, they'd simply get hammered like a Mitch Williams heater to Joe Carter? And now they're gone, nothing more than a few orange and black stains on the end boards of Mellon Arena, Jarkko Ruutu's elbow pads, and the broadside of the U.S.S. Hal Gill. Take your ball and go home, Patrick Thoreson -- it's over. As we lower this mostly-full ...

Why Hockey is Better Than Dating, Reason No. 1,542,890: There's always someone for everyone. Thoresen's claim to fame was getting hit with a puck in the how-do-you-do during a playoff game against the ...
