Rounding up the Sampson stories
Published 2/14/2008 by Thermocaster at The Meaningful Collateral
Let’s start with the big rumor: According to The Big Lead, Sampson’s gone by Friday. One can only hope, but I have my doubts. For what it’s worth, Cobra Brigade seems to be hearing the same thing. The guys over there really deserve a lot of props for being WAY ahead of this story, going all the way back to October. Go over and say hi if you haven’t been there yet. ESPN’s Pat Forde says that at the very least, IU should suspend Sampson immediately. Rumors and Rants had a delightful skreed earlier today on Sampson that I suggest you check out. Kelvin Sampson has to go
Published 2/14/2008 by jclay@herald-leader.com at Sidelines
Updated at 11 a.m. with Seth Davis link. Prediction: When Kentucky and Indiana hook up next season for their annual basketball border war, Kelvin Sampson will be watching it on television. The Indiana coach might be watching the Hoosiers on TV this weekend after the school received an official letter from the NCAA accusing IU basketball program or five major violations, including charges that Sampson lied to both the NCAA and the school about his cell phone addiction. Surely Sampson is on the way out. It's not a matter of if, but when. With a team expected to make a run at the Final Four, Indiana doesn't need the distractions, ...

Hoosier Daddy? Brian Butch Is
Published 2/14/2008 by J Money at Boiled Sports
Wow, that day could not have gone worse for IU. We almost feel a little bit bad for them here at Boiled Sports but, hey, if you're gonna get into bed with the Devil, don't come crying to us when the devil wants to have kinky sex or do the donkey punch. Or something. Brian Butch, the whitest kid in perhaps the whitest state in America, banked in a craptastic three-pointer to give the Wisco Badgers a win last night in Bloomington. That now makes the Badgers 10-2 in conference play, just one game behind Purdue. Well, two, really, when you consider that we swept them. (Sorry, it just feels good to say that.) If you read the linked story ...

Indiana Could Suspend or Fire Kelvin Sampson This Week, Reports Suggest
Published 2/14/2008 by Michael David Smith at FanHouse
Filed under: Indiana Basketball, Big Ten Basketball, NCAA Basketball CoachesHow much longer will Indiana basketball coach Kelvin Sampson keep his job? Based on the reports coming out today, it sounds like he could be suspended or fired any day now. Andy Katz of ESPN reports that Sampson's status is game-by-game, and that Indiana officials were debating whether to even allow him to coach last night's game against Wisconsin as late as yesterday afternoon. However, Indiana is apparently holding off on firing Sampson just yet because it's afraid that Sampson could end up suing the school. Indiana doesn't want to follow the path of ...
