White Sox sign Dotel Don’t ask. Dotel. The White Sox, looking to make another addition to their bullpen, have signed right-hander Octavio Dotel to a two-year, $11 million contract, according to a major-league source. ... -P- The White Sox have signed Octavio Dotel to a two-year, $11 million deal. Dotel is 34 and he's not nearly as good as he was when he and Billy Wagner were dominating the late innings for the Astros. And more importantly, I have no idea what planet Kenny Williams' head is on. His big moves this offseason have been to deal Jon Garland for Orlando Cabrera, trade his entire farm system for Nick Swisher, and drop $30 million on a pair of aging relievers (Dotel and Scott Linebrink). If the Sox were in the NL Central, ...

The Post Where I Under-Over-Estimate Kenny Williams

... this link along because I think it’s true. I’m sending this along because:
1. The advertisement makes it impossible to actually read the damned story
2. It’s funny to think that the White Sox would actually pay $11m for two years of perennially injured Octavio Dotel after signing Scott Linebrink to $19m/4
3. It actually ends the story with the word “Congratulations”. And that makes me smile.
Well, it appears I now have a ham and egg on my face. Thanks, Ken Rosenthal.
But in my defense, who ...

... Octavio Dotel officially signed with the White Sox. Two years and $11 million? Better them than us. Dotel hasn't pitched more than 31 innings since 2004 and hasn't posted a sub-3.50 ERA since 2003. He turned 34 in November. ...
