A week ago, the idea seemed unthinkable. But suddenly, it appears quite possible. The Red Sox and Yankees seemingly have succeeded in keeping Santana away from each other while retaining their top young arms. On the front page of MSN's home page — not the sports page, the home page — the #2 headline is, MLB trade rumors: M's enter Santana race? Wherein Ken Rosenthal (the best in the biz right now) devotes half a page to the M's and Santana. Rosenthal offers this intriguing nugget: The Mariners, rival executives say , are intent on making a splash and acquiring a big-name starting pitcher, with Orioles lefty Erik Bedard another potential target.
