ALLEN HEADING OUT OF KANSAS CITY?
Published 4/17/2008 by Mike Florio at ProFootballTalk.com
During the offseason, Jay Glazer of FOXSports has roughly the same profile as Punxsutawney Phil.  But when Glazer emerges from hibernation, he comes with something more than a hairy ass and tail. Glazer reports that the Kansas City Chiefs are expected to trade defensive end Jared Allen before the draft.  The two suitors are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Minnesota Vikings. Allen, who bears the franchise tag, tells Glazer that he’ll visit with the Vikings this weekend in Minnesota, and that he plans to meet with the Bucs next week.“It’s a situation that works out best for ...

Jared Allen Is Not Long for Kansas City, According to Jared Allen
Published 4/17/2008 by Ryan Wilson at FanHouse
... and his mullet are not long for Kansas City. The Chiefs franchised Allen, the NFL's sack leader last season, presumably with the intentions of signing the fifth-year pro to a long-term deal. Well, I would be presuming wrong, at least according to FOXSports.com's Jay Glazer. ...

For some reason, Chiefs to trade Jared Allen
Published 4/17/2008 at Shutdown Corner
That's what Jared Allen says, anyway. He told Fox's Jay Glazer that the Chiefs have held trade talks with the Vikings and the Bucs, and right now, they're just trying to agree on trade compensation and a new contract for Allen. From Glazer: The Pro Bowl defensive end is the Chiefs' franchise player, but re-signing in Kansas City will be a problem as the team is looking to stockpile draft picks. Allen said the two sticking points are working out terms of a deal with a new team and the Chiefs agreeing to compensation for a trade. A ...

Vikings Talking to Chiefs About Jared Allen
Published 4/17/2008 by danzinski at The Viking Age | A Blog For Minnesota Vikings Fans
I never thought there was any realistic chance of beastly Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Jared Allen getting traded to the Vikings , especially after they slapped the franchise tag on him. Now, however, it looks like a foregone conclusion that Allen will be traded by the Chiefs.  And yes, the Vikings are one of two teams that are talking to Kansas City about the sack artist. Here’s what Allen himself had to say about the situation (via FOXsports.com): It’s a situation that works out best for both sides. I can go to a team that is competing for a championship right now. ...

A draft party without draft picks?

Jared Allen on the Trade Block: Carl Peterson Has Worn Out His Welcome
Published 4/17/2008 by Jon Yoon at Home of the Chiefs
... The word out of Kansas City isn’t pretty. There is mass speculation that Jared Allen is being shopped around for draft picks. I wonder what the draft compensation for the moon is this time of year, because that’s the only compensation that I believe is fitting for Jared Allen to get. There are rumors that the Chiefs could get an extra first and second round pick in exchange for Allen. Umm… yeah, great idea Carl. Given that the first round pick would probably be spent on a less-than-qualified replacement for Allen, like ...
