... him. I don't mean to slight David Patten, Devery
Henderson, and Lance Moore ... actually, yes, I suppose I do.
4. Drew Brees. Not only is he one of the best quarterbacks in the
league, but he also loves his tight ends. In 2004 and 2005, Antonio Gates caught
170 balls for 23 touchdowns. In 2006 and 2007, from Philip Rivers, Gates caught
146 balls for 18 touchdowns.
5. Jay Glazer. I believe Glazer had the news first. He's just
dominating the NFL scoop business these days.

GIANTS TRADE SHOCKEY TO SAINTS
Published 7/21/2008 by Michael David Smith at ProFootballTalk.com
Jay Glazer of Fox Sports is reporting that the Giants have agreed to trade tight end Jeremy Shockey to the Saints for second- and fifth-round draft picks in 2009. Shockey must pass a physical and the league office must approve the trade before it can become official, but the deal appears to be close to done. Glazer reports that the Giants accepted the same offer that the Saints have been making for months. It is not clear what prompted the Giants to finally accept the offer. Shockey will become the Saints’ No. 1 tight end, and will undoubtedly be used as a wide receiver in ...
NY Giants Finally Shuffle Shockey Off To Saints
Published 7/21/2008 by jason at SPORTSbyBROOKS
Fresh on the heels of the Jason Taylor trade , another “distraction” has been shipped off, as the Giants send Jeremy Shockey to the Saints . Saints Cheerleaders Jeremy Shockey Jay Glazer of FOX SPORTS reports the G-Men finally agreed to send their injured & irritating tight end to New Orleans for the Saints’ second & fifth-round picks in next year’s draft. Strangely, this was the exact same offer the Saints made for Shockey during this year’s draft back in April, but the Giants turned them down. So why the sudden change of heart? A little loud ...
Giants ship Jeremy Shockey to Saints

... Shockey’s behavior never matched up to his talent. Kevin Boss more fits the Giant mold as a player. And winning the Super Bowl without Shockey certainly made Reese’s decision easier. Have to wonder why he didn’t do the deal before the draft. Listening to Michael Kay and have to agree that the picks would probably have had more value in April 2008 than they will in 2009. Also, have to wonder if Bill Parcells ever called to see if he could bring Shockey back to Miami, where he played in college. ...

The Giants Trade Jeremy Shockey to New Orleans ... Finally
Published 7/21/2008 at FanHouse
... that three-team trade rumor had some substance after all. Is it just a coincidence that after months of talk about the Giants sending Jeremy Shockey to the Saints, the deal happened to go down the day after the Dolphins shipped Jason Taylor to the Redskins? Or is it a sign that the two teams were working on something else (with, possibly, those Dolphins) and decided to just finally get it done on their own after Miami strayed from the plan? Regardless. Shockey is now a Saint, for the price of a second- and fifth-round pick in 2009. If Kevin ...
Did One Catch Signal the End of Jeremy Shockey?
Published 7/22/2008 by TheBigLead at The Big Lead
In the Super Bowl, Giants rookie tight end Kevin Boss turned a short reception into a 45-yard gain. It was his only catch of the game. Boss had nine receptions in five games filling in for former party animal and first-round pick Jeremy Shockey.
Due to the “emergence” of Boss, and Shockey’s pouty history, the Giants dealt one of the NFL’s best tight ends (here’s the best story about him we’ve ever read) yesterday to the Saints for two draft picks (2nd and a 6th). ...

Good haul for the G-men. Shockey obviously wasn't a driving force of the offense (they won a super bowl without him). He could have only turned into a lockerroom cancer.
Good dump.
