What is more Embarrassing?
The Nugg Doctor - A Denver Nuggets Blog —
... (Boulder-CO) Today, the answer is going to come from you in the comments section. Ben Maller is reporting on his site, http://www.benmaller.com/, that Nene is embarrassed. He is not embarrassed because the Nuggets lost last night to the Spurs, or that they have not been able to compensate for Carmelo’s 30+ points per outing, or even that there has been a routine amount of major collapses in consistency with himself and his teammates throughout the entire season. None of these fathomable reasons are why, “Big Brazil”, as I like to call him, are why Nene is feeling the way he feels. Rather, Nene is embarrassed with himself.

Maller writes poor headlines?
The Baseball Files —
... I've never heard Ben Maller on the radio, but I do read his blog. Maller seems to have a solid grip on the world of baseball and his finger firmly on the pulse of the latest rumors, but he writes abysmal headlines! With so much knowledge of the game, why does he feel it necessary to write most of his headlines in the form of a question? I probably wouldn't knock this in the average blogger, but Maller is a media professional and should convey his authority with carefully crafted, click-enticing headlines. With a little more confidence at the keyboard, perhaps Maller could start constructing some headlines that have real conviction.
USC Could Be Adding to Recruiting Class

... . Williams was a teammate of Mustain's at Springdale High and both players signed with Arkansas last February after their prep coach, Gus Malzahn, was hired as the Razorbacks' offensive coordinator. The Malzahn-Springdale-Mustain-Williams marriage with Arkansas eventually went sour, and Malzahn left after the end of the season for Tulsa. This left Mustain behind, and it appears he could be ready to join Williams. Thanks to Ben

Mets Fever —
... A Jays insider says the team has little interest in Lieber, even though it would like to upgrade two of its starting spots. Meantime, a Padres source said the rumored deal that would ship Rowand to San Diego for veteran reliever Scott Linebrink once had legs but now is dead. A Phils source said Linebrink would be a good addition to their bullpen, but doubted the teams would do something by Opening Day. Posted March 09, by Ben Maller
Is the cost worth it
Mets Fever —
... Ben Maller reports on the available starting pitchers. The report was actually in reference to the Atlanta Braves after the injury to Mike Hampton, which they resolved by acquiring LHP Mark Redman. But the names of Peavy and Lieber came up during the discussion. The Mets are always looking for starting pitching and the question is; are either of these guys worth what it would take to obtain them?

Cliff to the bench
Mets Fever —
... Ben Maller is reporting that Cliff Floyd will start the year on the Cubs bench. Cliff didn't respond very well to the bench here and always wanted to return to the starters position so he could get in the rhythm of the game. But it's a new team and if he understands his limitations maybe he can do better in that role.

Jennings may become available
Mets Fever —
... Ben Maller reports that the Astros have tabled talks with starting pitcher Jason Jennings. The Mets were rumored to be interested in Jennings during the winter meetings. The Astros gave up Hirsh, Buchholtz and Taveras all of which are starters for the Rockies for Jennings. That's an awful large price to pay for a rental player. If they fall out of contention and don't think they can resign him, he may become available.

Mets Fever —
... I speculated that we might be interested in the veteran starting pitcher who's attempting a comeback from injuries. But now that Maine and Perez have solidified their position I'm not sure the club would be interested or if he'd be an upgrade over Park, Vargas or Sosa. Ben Maller reports that Lawrence is on the verge of picking a team.

Pacman Done as a Titan? Done in NFL?
Larry Brown Sports —
... Probably the funniest thing I’ve heard about Pacman Jones recently came from my buddy Ben Maller who said it’s like a cartoon — one of those black clouds must follow Pacman around. Don Hartack, the official scorer at half the Dodger home games, was the first man down as he pulled a hamstring running out a second-inning grounder to third base. But at least he didn't call for a medic. The first one to actually utilize the nurse in Media Game history was Ben Maller, who turned a routine ground ball to second base into a fire drill - he stopped, dropped and rolled about four times, cutting his forearm and requiring (or requesting) a bandage. It was quite a sight. ...
