Francona vs. Big Papi: Who you got?
It's a classic story. Manager does interview. Player clowns around in the background. Manager threatens to kick player's ass. Even better when the manager is Terry Francona and the player is David Ortiz. The magic happens at the end of the interview. I seriously think Francona could take him. [link]

Terry Francona Threatens To Kick Some A** During ESPN Sunday Night Baseball
Published 5/12/2008 by Awful Announcing- (noreply@blogger.com) at Awful Announcing
OMDQ mentioned this in the open thread, and I thought I'd give the interview it's own post. Here is David Ortiz hamming it up behind Terry Francona as he chats with Jon and Joe.... I feel like I've seen this go down before with these two but I could be wrong. Anyway it's still pretty entertaining. Francona vs. Big Papi: Who you got? (BLB)

Big Papi The Practical Joker
Published 5/12/2008 by Ian at SOX & Dawgs
We saw it happen earlier in the year when Bobby Kielty had some fun with Jacoby Ellsbury during an interview on ESPN. Now Big Papi is having some fun with Boston Red Sox skipper Terry Francona during last night’s game against the Twins. IE users click here to watch (Please open the article to see the flash file or player.) Now that’s a fight I’d love to see.

... the Manager is Terry Francona. I know they call him big papi but I wouldn’t mess with Terry. Something about his demeanor just yells, “fuck with me and i’ll kill you.” The sparks start flying towards the end of the video. Who do you guys got in the fight? Thanks to the Babes for puttin me up on this one. Tags: big papi, terry francona, ...

Big Papi pranks Tito

Seriously, at some point, people are going to begin to realize that you can't put a TV camera in the Red Sox dugout and expect everyone to act like they're sitting in a library. Your latest example of shenanigans, courtesy Sox & Dawgs and Babes Love Baseball : For the record, you can add that to a list that now also includes the lurking Bobby Kielty messing with Jacoby Ellsbury . Francona may want to start by working on Kielty, rather than going after Big Papi.

David Ortiz had some fun at Terry Francona's expense last night during the ESPN interview... The Sox play the Twins on ESPN again tonight, so keep an eye out for more shenanigans... Thanks to Red Sox Monster for the video. Babes Love Baseball also have the video and want to know who you'd bet on if Tito and Big Papi squared off. Perhaps we'll see the battle of bum knees during tonight's interview...

Weekend Tube Review: Enough, Van Gundy
Published 5/12/2008 at The Sporting Blog
... NBA Playoffs, but Van Gundy's act is growing old. Baseball: It's pretty hard to find good videos or soundbytes from a weekend when Joe Buck or Tim McCarver isn't involved, but this should do the trick. One of the more en vogue ideas that has flooded sports over the past few years has been the in-game coach interview. ESPN does this with each manager during Sunday Night Baseball, and if you're the subject of the interview you should always be wary of what's going on behind you. (H/T: Babes Love Baseball .) On Mini-Golf and Guys Named Boof: SoxTwins Gamer I
The Red Sox are known as a team that doesn't like playing in the Metrodome. There's the thought that they don't do particularly well there (despite winning the series there last season); then there's the strange catwalk system that cost David Ortiz a home run there in 2006. You remember that one. Ortiz hit a bomb that clanged off a speaker and turned into a single. Terry Francona was a bit ...
Ortiz back in
Though David Ortiz has been struggling with tendinitis in his right knee, caused by the dive into first base in Tampa last weekend, he is back in the lineup tonight at designated hitter. But that doesn't mean that he's all the way better. "We kind of went back and forth a few times," manager Terry Francona said. "[We] actually usually put the lineup up much earlier than we did, but I ...
Ortiz' Sore Knee Good Enough
David Ortiz, who was scratched from Sunday's game because of a sore right knee, is back in the starting lineup tonight. But manager Terry Francona said that the Sox will be keeping their eye on their slugging designated hitter, not wanting to push him too much too soon and risk losing him for a long stretch of time. Francona said the cold weather hasn't helped Ortiz' case of tendinitis. ...
