NFL QB shakeups and controversies
Construda —
... and Gus Frerotte will start this Sunday for the St. Louis Rams in place of ailing Marc Bulger. This obviously does not bode well for two teams that had legitimate playoff chances before the season. Now the 49ers (2-2) will look to journeyman Trent Dilfer to salvage their season. The Rams (0-4) are probably already out of the postseason given the impactful injuries of left tackle Orlando Pace and budding superstar running back Steven Jackson. Tack on these two quarterback changes to the long list of quarterback moves already made in just four weeks of the 2007-08 NFL season. Whether it be because of injury, a change of pace, or criminal mischief, the quarterback situation in the NFL is crazy this season. (Asterisk indicates different starter now than opening day) Arizona Cardinals: Matt Leinart; Kurt Warner - Since Week 3 coach Ken Whisenhunt has done a 50/50 with these QBs, hoping for a change of pace and using each in ...

RAMS POSITIONING FOR #1 PICK
Epic Carnival —
... Already sitting at 0-4 with a banged up Steven Jackson, whom was out last weekend in their demoralizing defeat to the Cowboys the Rams are further positioning themselves for the #1 pick in the draft. Because their team sucks, their missing a bunch of starters and Bulger has been playing with two cracked ribs anyway. ...
The Rams are sentencing Gus Frerotte to die
Guyism » humor —
Quarterback benchings happen all the time. A QB isn't effective, he gets benched. A QB gets hurt, he gets benched. A QB isn't often benched because the team doesn't want him to keep getting hurt as a result of his line's awfulness.

Bulger (Temporarily) Benched for Frerotte
Football Outsiders —
Bulger (Temporarily) Benched for Frerotte Okay, it wasn t so much a benching as a safety precaution. Marc Bulger has taken a beating during the first month of the season, and head coach Scott Linehan has seen enough. So Gus Frerotte will literally take one for the team. Oh, and Linehan has taken over play-calling duties too. According to the Rams, the benching is not permanent. Instead, it is aimed at providing Bulger some time to recover and to perhaps gain some new insights from the sideline on the Rams offensive struggles. Insights is one word for it, I suppose. posted
