... The real story in Jetville is Vernon Gholston signing his deal and getting on the practive field today. No holdout! (I’m not counting the first day of camp as holding out). The deal sounds like it will be 5 years with a maximum value of $50 million if Burnin’ Vernon meets all his incentives. Yes the Jets wanted it to be 6 years just like they wanted Revis to sign for but they smartly cut to the chase and got him in camp and signed at 5 years rather than suffer another long, drawn out battle like they faced with Revis last year. ...

I think it's pretty safe to assume that expectations for the #6 pick in an NFL draft are not 13 total tackles but that's exactly what Vernon Gholston gave the New York Jets last season. In essence Gholston was a complete non factor. He recorded zero sacks and the majority of his 13 tackles came on special teams. He was even inactive for multiple games including a 3 game stretch from week 14 to week 16. Not what you're paying $40 million dollars over five years for.
