Kosuke Fukudome is the god of my heart
Published 3/31/2008 by PostmanE at The Postmen // A Sports Blog // Chicago, IL.
... Of course, the Cubs still lost. Of course. Cubs fan/friend/commenter Jason is telling me that Piniella made the wrong move not to bring Kerry Wood in as the actual closer — let’s hope Lou doesn’t make a habit of indecisiveness this year. That got really old really fast last year, and I don’t think it made the team any better. Worse, probably.
Still, this is really all I needed as confirmation: Kosuke Fukudome authentic, here I come.

Fukudome Sets Wrigley's Hearts Ablaze
Published 4/1/2008 by PostmanR at FanHouse
... the opening day happenings, Kosuke Fukudome's debut for the Cubs perhaps shined the brightest of all. Just watch the above video. Cubs trailing by three, bottom of the ninth, Fukudome already 2-2 on the day with a walk, and bam, home run -- Cubs tie it up. And Brent Musburger says something about the teeth of Lake Michigan. i'm still not sure what that was all about. The Cubs lost in extra innings, but hey, welcome to the North Side Kosuke. Typical Cubs Opening Day: Thrilling HR, Still Lose
Published 4/1/2008 by jason at SPORTSbyBROOKS
... As usual, there was high drama at Wrigley Field this cold, rainy afternoon, as Kosuke Fukudome made quite a debut in Cubbie Blue. And as usual, the Cubs blew it. Down 3-0 in the bottom of the 9th and with two men on, the Baby Bears’ newest Japanese import slammed a shot off of Brewers reliever Eric Gagne into the right field bleachers, tying the game and giving Cubs fans hope. (Video courtesy AWFUL ANNOUNCING ) Of course, being the Cubs, we all know how this ends up: Bob Howry gives up a hit, a hit-by-pitch and a sacrifice fly, and t ...

Game 1: What A F---ing Debut!!
Published 4/1/2008 by Bryan at OUT OF RIGHT FIELD
Forget the game itself. It was game 1. GAME 1. OUT OF ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY TWO. The radio, newspapers, and blogs are already breaking down Lou's moves. Well, we're not going to here. It's game 1. Relax and watch this 100 times like I have because it's the only thing that matters from today's game. Wow, I love him already. It's going to be a fun summer. (Video via Awful Announcing.)
The Cubs blew it and lose in extra innings to the Brewers 4-3, but all of the attention was really on RF Kosuke Fukudome’s MLB debut, and I think 3-3 with a 3-run jack off Eric Gagne in the bottom of the ninth to tie it makes a very good impression. Speaking of Gagne: I don’t think that $10 mil investment the Brewers made in him will pay off very well, even though it’s only one game.
Eight Ks, seven innings, two earned runs given up on a Josh Willingham homer. I’d ...

Welcome Back, Welcome Back, Welcome Back

... In case that rock you’ve been living under only gets March Madness news, Major League Baseball officially returned yesterday, and I don’t think it went by unnoticed. In fact, I’m sure of it.
Some minor thoughts of a baseball fledgling:
Will Johan Santana have trouble adjusting to the National League? Not so much.
His name is FUK-U-DOME!!! And the Cubs love him.

Homer of the Day - 3/31 - Kosuke Fukudome
Published 4/1/2008 by Richie Rich at Home Run Derby
... Unfortunately, it was in a losing effort for the Cubs, but nothing anyone else hit yesterday can beat Kosuke Fukudome’s game-tying Home Run in the bottom of the ninth inning against the Brewers. I was at the Cubs’ home opener yesterday and Fukudome’s eye at the plate is everything it was advertised to be. The first pitch he saw he hammered for a double, followed by a walk, a single and that blast. By the way, Brent Musburger did a fine job announcing baseball. Thanks to Awful Announcing for the clip.
