OUT OF RIGHT FIELD —
... stations, the Cubs and Kosuke Fukudome have reached an agreement on a 4 year deal. the deal is reportedly worth $12 to $14 million a year. If this is indeed true, Jim Hendry's gamble of putting all his eggs in one Japanese basket looks to have paid off. The Cubs out bid several teams including this winter's constant "runner up," the White Sox. Kenny Williams, you may want to take notes from a competent G.M. More to come when word officially comes from the Cubs. Fukudome to Cubs Official? (espn.com) ...

Fukudome a Cub for Four Years
CubsNet.com —
Seeking the most expensive corner outfield combination in MLB history, a side benefit of adding a left-handed hitter who can sell ballcaps and jerseys in Japan, the Cubs appear to have succeeded. The Cubs will announce tomorrow that they have signed 30-year-old Kosuke Fukudome to a four-year contract, a number of media outlets are reporting. Salary figures have not been released. The Cubs Go Asian
SimonOnSports —
... The Cubbies are going Asian as they have won the Fukudome sweepstakes and will bring in the Japanese right fielder to replace the traded Jacque Jones. It seems like a good move for the Cubbies nothing says bonus merchandising like signing an Asian hero. Additionally in 2006 he lit up the Central league hitting .351 with 31 dingers and won the MVP. He's a lefty so he could bring balance to the Soriano, Lee, Aramis right handed overload in the middle of the lineup. They did give him $12 million a year which seems a bit much for a player who's never hit a single baseball in the ...
Fuk-U-Do-Me? No, Fukudome. Or just Kosuke.
Home Run Derby —
Kosuke Fukudome is coming to America. He’s coming to Chicago . He’s coming to Wrigley Field . The Cubs outbid the Padres and White Sox for Fukudome. I can’t wait for 2,000 drunken Trixies in the Wrigley Bleachers to mispronounce “Fukudome” 30 times a game. As we said once before … it’s pronounced Foo-Koo-Doh-May. Not Fuk-U-Do-Me. But if you’re hoping to get a Cub jersey for Christmas with an easily mispronounced sexual innuendo on the back … I think you’re going to be disappointed. Because Fukudome’s jersey is probably going to look like this … ...
