Mets Top 11 Prospects for 2009
Mets LifersBaseball Prospectus has released their list of the top 11 prospects within the Mets organization. I'll give you two guesses who's number 1 on the list. Here's a hint: it's not Pedro MARTINEZ. So surprise, surpise. FMart is listed at #1. Jon Niese is #5. And two middle infielders are listed as #2 & #3. Kunz has dropped like a lead balloon down to #10. I've got to be honest that I haven't a clue about any of these guys except for Niese, Kunz and Martinez. I guess Daniel Murphy is no longer a prospect. Visit Baseball Prospectus for the full ...

Mets Farm Showing Signs of Growth
New York Mets Fan Blog — Baseball America recently released their top 10 prospects of the Mets' farm system . As you'd expect, it's a cavalcade of young ones mixed with ballplayers facing make-it-or-break-it time. Adam Rubin writes for Baseball America that the Mets don't quite have a sure thing on the farm just yet: Because many of the top players in system are still teenagers, there won't be many new faces making their debuts when New York unveils Citi Field this season. The lone player not already exposed to the majors who may have an impact is (Fernando) Martinez. This doesn't come as a surprise, but I take slight relief in not hearing the Mets' farm system ...

Mets Top Prospects: #22 Eddie Kunz
Amazin' Avenue — ... Sam Says:  Two common criticisms of Kunz from scouts last year were that he was "soft" and "pitching scared," and both of those problems are reflected in his stats. "Soft" implies a conditioning issue, which may explain why his stuff is getting hit so hard this year. "Pitching scared" suggests he's nibbling, which is not a formula for success with a sinker-first pitcher, ...
