... TSN is reporting that the Rangers signed Marian Gaborik to a five year deal, $7.5M per. If Gabby managed not to injure himself signing the contract, then the Blueshirts finally got their Jaromir Jagr replacement. The dude is a Fabergé egg. Stunningly beautiful and expensive, yet ridiculously fragile. Goal scoring is not a problem with him (who will ever forget the five-goal game?) but staying healthy is. ...

Marion Gaborik is a Ranger
5-hole.com —
Um, WTF?!
TSN is reporting that the Rangers have signed Marion Gaborik for 5 years at $7.5 million per year.
WAY TO GO SLATS – just when we were al excited that he was smart enough to dump Gomez, he goes and does THIS. Gabby will be out hurt for the majority of his time here, and that his cap hit is ridiculous. Aren’t we over the cap now? We dumped $7 million and picked up $9 million, with Brashear and Gaborik.
I’m back to hating you, Glen Sather. Go die in a hole.

Puck Daddy —
(NOTE: Don't forget about Puck Daddy's 2009 Free Agent Frenzy Chatter Box) There are two ways to look at the New York Rangers' decision to sign Marian Gaborik this evening in one of the most significant moves of the Free Agent Frenzy. 1. That the Rangers have, in the last 24 hours, turned Scott Gomez and his seemingly untradeable contract into Marian Gaborik, Christopher Higgins and Ryan McDonagh. In Gaborik, they have a player whose flashes of creativity under the conservative ...

LEEInks —
Free agency has begun in both the NHL and NBA, with big-name players already on the move, including a few local college heroes landing in spots that will undoubtedly decrease their popularity in Boston.
In the NHL, the most popular free agent was taken off the market early when the Blackhawks decided it would be a good idea to pay Marian Hossa $5.233 million as a 42-year old. The 12-year deal is worth $62.8 million total, and while the average salary isn’t too devastating in the short term, Hossa will undoubtedly kill Chicago’s cap when he’s past his prime and the Blackhawks are trying to make ...
