It s official. There were rumors and rumblings throughout the last week, and it s now confirmed that former U.S. National Team coach Bruce Arena will be taking over as the head coach and general manager of the L.A. Galaxy following the recent departures of GM Alexi Lalas and coach Ruud Gullit. The Galaxy, after starting the season out strong, have slipped all the way to a tie for fourth in the Western standings with Colorado. With a huge payroll that includes Landon Donovan and David Beckham, it would be an incredible disappointment for the team (and the MLS as a league) to not be in the playoffs this season.
