Cubs Are Half A Game Out: Time To Panic

Matt at Chuckie Hacks does a nice job summing up the overpaid, under-interesting screaming ninnies that are the columnists for the major metropolitan dailies in Chicago. And, by the way, tough break for Yo - also via Chuckie Hacks.
Gallardo possibly out for year

Yovani Gallardo According to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (click here for his post), Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo, suffering a torn ACL in his right knee, potentially ending his season. He apparently suffered the injury in his last start, as Haudicourt describes the situation as “he tried to leap over Johnson near first base after Johnson tried to beat first baseman Prince Fielder to the bag by diving head-first on a bunt play”. The team will wait to make a decision regarding surgery at this time, as the knee is still swollen. This ...
Tough break for the Brewers

... Most of you probably saw the collision between Johson, Fielder and Gallardo over at 1st base yesterday. Gallardo lay on the ground afterwards clutching his knee in serious pain, but the Brewers decided he was OK to continue pitching. The damage was already done at that point, but they didn’t know what that damage was so why take a chance? Turns out it was a very serious injury. Gallardo tore his ACL and will more than likely miss the rest of the season. It would be very surprising to see him pitch ...

Gallardo tears ACL, likely done for year

... serious injury. Here's the Rotowire note: Gallardo twisted his right knee in the fifth inning, but was able to stay in the game. He allowed two of his runs in the sixth inning so the knee may have affected him a bit. Pitching Coach Mike Maddux said after the game that his knee was just sore and that he expected him to make his next start. The Brewers didn't dodge the bullet after all. Gallardo has a torn ACL, and his season is probably over. This from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: No decision will ...
Gallardo has torn ACL

Gallardo has torn ACL Gallardo is easily the best pitcher on the Brewer staff and it’s not close. The saving grace is that this spares his arm for another year though the Gallardo injury likely gives Melvin/Yost an excuse for the 2008 season not ending as hoped. Though I know one old, cranky, son of a b*tch of a Brewer fan who won’t buy that claim. Here hopes the lad makes a full recovery. ...

Yes, there was a dumb move with a guy recovering from injury in this game. It wasn't Soriano: Gallardo has torn ACL.
The Cubs are going to have games were defenders make bad plays, pitchers don't get the jobs done, and people get out running the bases. What I hope never happens is the Cubs have a game where the pitcher suffers a knee injury so bad they're balled up on the ground in ...
