 Game 39 - Yankees vs. Rays Links1
Mercy Percy, you owe Edwin some surf n turf! Edwin, Mr. Jackson if you’re nasty, pitched seven awesome shut out innings once again. Chien-Ming Wang pitched pretty well himself, giving up only one run through seven. The Rays scored in the fourth when Pena doubled. Clifford moved him over, and then Hinske knocked him in. Stellar. The Yankees threatened in the 6th when Hinske ... [link]

Devil Rays: Best Record In The American League
Published 5/14/2008 by David Chalk at Bugs & Cranks
... won in extra frames. Wang couldn’t hang with The IMOA Edwin Jackson, who has now thrown 15 consecutive scoreless innings. Mariano Rivera pitched an inning plus and took the loss. For the first time this season, we have the best record in the American League. There’s a whole of teams out there looking like they ain’t s#!t compared to our Devil Rays. (I know, it’s early, I’m just sayin’….) Jonny Gomes told Jessica, “Tell ya what, it doesn’t suck!”

Yanks fall to first-place Rays in extras
Now, that’s a weird headline to write. The concept of the Tampa Bay Rays being in first place on May 14 is causing some cognitive dissonance around here. Anyway, the Yanks lost a heart-breaker tonight. The Chien-Ming Wang ground-ball machine that we know and love showed up in place of Chien-Ming Wang, the strike out artist. Wang went seven strong, allowing 7 hits and 1 run on 3 walks ...
At least they showed comeback ability?
That's really all I can say after this game. They were lucky it was only a one-run deficit in the ninth when Hideki Matsui came up against Rays' closer Troy Percival . Like most of these games recently, the Yankees had their chances to score, but didn't. It's a shame Chien-Ming Wang couldn't walk away with a victory, but at least he didn't get the loss. He wasn't perfect - seven hits and three ...
Yankees Waste Wang Effort
Mariano Rivera knew that his "perfect" season would end some time, he probably just wished it hadn't been tonight. The Yankees wasted another great start by Chien-Ming Wang and lost to the Tampa Rays 2-1 in 11 innings. The win was the Rays 6th in a row and 11th straight at home. It also moved them into sole possession of 1st place in the AL East after Boston lost to Baltimore . The ...
Yanks Lose in 11
YANKEES 1 RAYS 2 Tuesday night, the Yankees dropped an 11 inning game to the Rays, 2-1. After a strong outing by Chien-Ming Wang, and a game tying homerun by Hideki Matsui in the 9th inning, the Yankees fell short, when Mariano Rivera gave up a game winning basehit in the 11th. Chien-Ming Wang pitched another great game for the Yankees, but got absolutely no support from the offense. ...
Another Disappointing Loss
Chien Ming Wang pitched well. Kyle Farnsworth gets the job done, Joba Chamberlain got himself out of a jam and Mariano Rivera finally gave up a run. Despite all around good pitching, the Yankees inability to score more than a single run in 11 innings proves to be their downfall as they lose 2-1 to the first place Tampa Rays. Alberto Gonzalez was 0 for 2 on the night and then Girardi had Duncan
Yankees MLB – Yankees Suckfest Continues, 2-1 to Tampa Bay
The Yankees are now losing even when their money pitchers take the hill. Another wasted performance by Chien-Ming Wang goes out the window, as the Rays take care of the Yankees in 11 innings, 2-1.
Yanks Drop a Heartbreaker in Tampa
It was either going to be an uplifting win or a devastating loss. It was the latter. Chien-Ming Wang pitched his guts out and Hideki Matsui ripped a game-tying solo homer in the ninth, but Mariano Rivera gave up the game-winning hit in the 11th inning as the Rays edged the Yanks 2-1 at The Trop.  Jason Giambi finished 2 for 2 with two walks, but the rest of the offense looks like it's in ...
Mo Is Human, Chien-Ming Has No Luck, Yanks Lose To The 1st Place Rays
So Mariano Rivera is human after all. The perfect season comes to an end. Oh well. He couldn't be perfect forever. The freakin ' Rays are on fire. Their pitching has been excellent. With Boston losing the Rays are now in sole possession of 1st place. What's the world coming to? You can't pitch much better than Chien -Ming Wang did tonight. For the 2 nd straight outing, Wang pitched well ...
Chien-Ming Wang stat overheard on Rays radio
Ray's play by play guy says per Elias: Chien-Ming Wang is 22 and 7 in career starts following a Yankee loss... which the Rays talkers say is what makes a pitcher great. P.S. There were only 5 days between Wang's first and second appearances v Boston this year. . The second one didn't turn out well for him, but I had forgotten they'd seen him only 5 days earlier. This was briefly ...

Yankees vs. Rays - May 13
The Yankees really need a win tonight and they've got the right guy on the hill to do it. Chien-Ming Wang is coming off his only loss of the season, but it was a tough one as he threw a quality start only to be out done by the Indians' Cliff Lee . Tonight The Wanger goes against the Rays and fellow right-hander Edwin Jackson , who made the Yankees look silly in a 6-3 loss back on April 5. But ...

Yankees vs. Rays - May 12
You shouldn't have to worry about a rain out in tonight's game unless there's a torrential downpour preventing the teams from getting to the ball park (it has happened before). One thing yesterday's rain out did was allow the Yankees to skip throwing Kei Igawa on his scheduled Wednesday start. There's talk that the Yankees will bring back Ian Kennedy after just 2 starts (It will only be 2 if ...
