Bronx Banter: Pitcher Perfect

... and Yankees will be able to get a game in this afternoon without a hitch. Turns out this'll just be a brief encounter between the two teams as last night's game will be made up as part of a two-stadium double header in late June. So, today gives an appealing match-up of southpaws: Johan Santana vs. Andy Pettitte. The Yankees, of course, are well familiar with Santana. Because the starting pitching has been soooo good. Lineup: 1. Johnny Damon, LF 2. Bobby Abreu, RF 3. Derek Jeter, SS 4. Hideki Matsui, DH 5. Jason Giambi, 1B 6. Robinson Cano, C 7. Melky Cabrera, CF 8. Alberto Gonzalez, 3B 9. Chad Moeller, C Post from: River Ave. Blues A New York Yankees blog

Peter Abraham said in his running digest of the game that he thought it was a good call because Damon looked safe on the replay and the Yanks have had trouble scoring runs. I completely disagree. A 19-yr old in High-A is pretty insane, he’ll be facing better competition than he would have if he followed through on his commitment to Nebraska. It’ll be a nice test for him. (h/t ...
