Patrick Wow, I thought this was a joke at first. Both Memphis and LA haven't been known for shaking things up, so I'm shocked that they would pull this kind of deal off together.
Lakers Get Gasol! West Gets More Daunting
FanHouse —
Filed under: Lakers, Grizzlies, Los Angeles, Breaking NewsThat happened fast. That really escalated quickly. Fresh off some chatter Pau Gasol might have renewed his season tickets on the trade block, the Lakers swoop and land the dude for a pittance (Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton and two first-round picks), according to the Memphis Commercial-Appeal's Ron Tillery. Yes: Kobe Bryant, Lamar Odom, Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol. C'est formidable, as Serge Gainsbourg would say. Of course, it's with a cost Pau comes. Like Boston, L.A. has ...
BREAKING NEWS: GASOL A LAKER
Dime Magazine —
The Memphis Commercial Appeal is reporting the following : The Commercial Appeal has learned that the Grizzlies have traded Pau Gasol to the Los Angeles Lakers for center K wame Brown, rookie guard Javaris Crittenton and first-round draft picks in 2008 and 2010 . The decision was made that the Grizzlies could no longer move forward with Gasol on and off the basketball court. The deal allows the Grizzlies to gain salary cap relief, as Brown is in the final year of a deal that pays $9,075,000. Wow. GREAT move for the Lakers. Now, they can conceivably deal Lamar Odom ...

Pau Tracks : Memphis Trades Gasol To The Lakers
Can't Stop The Bleeding —
After reviewing the following deal, I can understand why it make sense for both parties. But I wouldn’t want to be sitting on Grizzlies season tickets for the second half of a season featuring Kwame Brown and Jason Collins. From the Memphis Commercial-Appeal’s Ronald Tillery (link courtesy Jon Solomon) :
The Grizzlies have traded Pau Gasol today to the Los Angeles Lakers for center Kwame Brown, rookie guard Javaris Crittenton, guard Aaron McKie, the rights to Gasol’s brother Marc, and first-round draft picks in 2008 and 2010, The Commercial Appeal has learned.

Whaddayouthink: Pau Gasol traded to the Lakers
Ball Don't Lie —
Pau Gasol was
just traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.
My initial thought? The Lakers are going to win a
championship.
My second thought? The Lakers are going to win a
championship.
Why can't I break away from that thought? They probably
won't win a championship, but it's an argument I'm having a tough time talking
myself out of right now.
Gasol can play. He can really, really play. He'll be perfect
in the apex of Los Angeles' Triangle Offense, hitting cutters with passes and
making it easier on himself to score in the low or high post as opposing
defenses try desperately to keep up with all the ...
Pau Gasol Is A Laker...
Stop Mike Lupica —
Indeed, the Lakers have allegedly completed a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies for Pau Gasol, in exchange for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, and 2 future first-rounders. The second one (2010) might be a surprising bonus for the Grizzlies, if Kobe opts out early and the Lakers fall apart. Doubtful, but always a possibility. Things to note: The Lakers could afford to take on Gasol long term, because aside from Kobe, they have no other major contracts. They'll still have pretty decent salary cap flexibility to fill in holes down the road. J-Crit was expendable, because Jordan Farmer is still the point guard of the future in LA. Gasol and ...

Breaking: Lakers Trade for Pau Gasol
The Big Lead —
Well, this certainly affects the landscape out West, huh? The Memphis Commercial-Appeal is reporting that the Lakers have acquired Memphis center Pau Gasol … for next to nothing. It only cost them stone hands Kwame Brown, 2007 first round pick (and disappointment) Javaris Crittenton and first-round draft picks in 2008 and 2010.
Man, once Andrew Bynum returns, that’s an impressive frontline.

Are we talking about the same Pau Gasol?
The Hoop and The Harm —
Pau Gasol has been dealt to the Lakers. That one came out of left field. Details here.
First of all, the idea of Pau and Kobe together is awesome…. But I’m just so confused by how much the Lakers gave up for Pau. I get it, a bunch of no names and draft picks, doesn’t affect the core group, but is this year’s Pau really worth Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, guard Aaron McKie, the rights to Gasol’s brother Marc, and first-round draft picks in 2008 and 2010. I don’t think so.
Pau is an all-star caliber player, and his play should be rejuvenated by this trade, but then ...
Day 95 of 170: Gasol to the Lakers. Kobe Giddy with Joy
Give Me The Rock —
Line of the Night: Kobe Bryant (5.5) is so excited that the Lakers traded for Pau Gasol, he went out and got line of the night for the second straight day in a row - a rundown first this year. If you were busy having a ménage et trois in a phone booth last night or just come to GMTR for your news (scary): According to Commercial Appeal (just go there and tell me that doesn’t look like a fake website a la the Onion), the Lakers sent Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton Aaron McKie, the draft rights to Marc Gasol (Pau’s brother, whoopee!), two crappy first-round draft picks (2008 and 2010) and cash considerations to the ...
