SOX & Dawgs — ... As you might have expected, there wasn’t a big turnout for the voluntary workout yesterday at Jacobs Field since the Red Sox didn’t get into Cleveland until the wee hours of the morning yesterday. The biggest question was answered yesterday as Terry Francona said that Josh Beckett will not come back on three day’s rest and pitch tomorrow night in Game 4. The other big question is will the bugs return and haunt the Red Sox. The Plain Dealer thinks they might and even made sure to help that situation out. They made bug masks. So while you’re sitting at work doing nothing today, take a look at the headlines from the Boston and Cleveland area on this Roxtober morning (not a typo, the Rockies are a hot team right now). ...

Red Sox Monster — ... this morning, so do I: Will the midges be back? The newspaper checked in with several scientists to check on the likelihood that the winged, fanged beast (OK, maybe that's a bit much) that harassed Joba Chamberlain and the Yankees last week might be back: Experts say the attack on the Yankees was by a rare fourth hatching of midges in an especially warm week in October, but Nalepa the science guy said not to rule out another swarm. "It might not be warm enough this time," he said, noting that the game-time forecast tonight is for temperatures near 60 degrees. "That doesn't mean there aren't a few left out there, though. "But maybe we won't need them to beat Boston." That's all good and fine, but as we already established, Indians fans are eating it up.
