Hire Jim Essian — ... I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Carlos Zambrano has been nothing short of completely tits-out in his last twelve starts. Do you realize he is now first in the Major Leagues to 14 wins? Do you realize how completely absurd he was in July? In six starts, he went 5-1, struck out 34 guys, and posted a 1.38 ERA after only giving up SIX EARNED RUNS in those six starts. He gave up 8 home runs in March and April. In may, it was down to 5. In June, he cut the number to 3. In July, he gave up only 1. I don’t know if it’s possible for one guy to will a team into the playoffs, but Big Z is certainly giving it a shot. ...
