GLAVINE: 1 MORE YEAR (RR)
Published 9/11/2007 at BBTF's Baseball Primer Newsblog
GLAVINE: 1 MORE YEAR (RR) I m having as much fun as I ve had in a long time, and that s a big factor for me, Glavine told The Post on Sunday night. It s a fun team to come to the ballpark with every day. All the factors are there [to coming back]. It s likely Glavine will decline his option with the Mets and sign a new contract with the club for 2008 in the $12 million range. There s always the chance the Braves, who were beaten 3-2 by the Mets last night at Shea, could go after Glavine again, but Atlanta has not come up with the money in the past, and that is not expected to change. Glavine s offseason home is in Georgia, but Glavine has found a new home in New York, and next year would be his sixth season with the Mets. Glavine seems like he wants to stay with the Mets rather than sign with Atlanta, which was clearly his preference last year. The Mets could potentially have a logjam next season whe ...

Don’t hold your breath on Glavine
Published 9/11/2007 by TD at Rain Delay
As much as I d love to see Tommy come back for one last hurrah with the Braves, it s more than likely that he ll end his career in the uniform of the New York Mets - unless there s some miracle that the Braves FO pulls out of their collective asses this winter. But I wouldn t be going and holding my breath on that one. Here s what he had to say to the New York Post . I m having as much fun as I ve had in a long time, and that s a big factor for me, Glavine told The Post on Sunday night. It s a fun team to come to the ballpark with every day. All the factors are there [to coming back]. The article goes on to say that there is the possibility that the Braves pony up the money, but not likely. It seems that Tommy is going to turn down his option year, and sign a new deal in a the 12 Million range. That s a price I m sure that the Braves, even under new ownership is not willing to pay. I m all for some n ...

Tom Glavine Thinking About Year 22
Published 9/11/2007 by PostmanE at FanHouse
... is nearing the finish of a pretty special 21st year in Major League Baseball. Considering his anchoring of the Mets staff for an entire pitching-plagued season and, lest we forget, his 300th win, one would find it difficult to blame ol' Tom if he decided to hang them up after the playoffs this year. Not so much, according to the New York Post: ...

Tim Hudson is a bad baserunner, big whiner
