Whose Wish?
Published 4/24/2007 by Tom at Tom Benjamin's NHL Weblog
... April 24, 2007 Whose Wish? William Houston reports that the CBC is getting it's way on the television schedule in the second round: Hockey Night In Canada has been given back its traditional Saturday night time slot for the second round of the National Hockey League playoffs. The CBC complained at the start of the post-season when it was denied a Saturday prime time game on the first weekend. The network will air the second game of the New Jersey Devils-Ottawa Senators series Saturday at 8 p.m. EDT. What Houston does not point out is that the only reason the CBC is getting the game they want in this series is because NBC does not want it. The Rangers-Sabres matchup will produce much stronger ratings south of the border. As a result, the league has a win win situation with both networks happy. The CBC gets what it wants unless NBC wants it too. Posted by Tom at April 24, 2007
