... the business side of the organization. Whether it's the economy or the outrageous ticket prices, there were still 6,000 seats available as of last night through the team. Just a few minutes ago, to see what was out there, I pulled up four tickets on Yankees.com for section 221. OK, so they were $431 each. But they were there. The Yankees trumpeted their postseason ticket prices a few weeks ago, proudly saying they had held the line on prices. But apparently they didn't go far enough (Boston.com)." ...

Subway Squawkers —
It seems like forever since the Yankees have actually gotten to play October baseball, but they start up again tonight. There's been a whole to-do about how many tickets remain unsold at yankees.com for the game tonight, but the story is a bit overblown. As usual, some of the really expensive seats are unsold, which isn't exactly breaking news. The Yankees are also selling standing room tickets this time around, and those tickets have not yet been sold (while I knew about those cafe seats, I didn't even know they were selling regular standing room tickets until today.) ...

... 4, Angels 1: The Yankees are a freaking buzzsaw. C.C. Sabathia wore his winter fat to the mound and pitched like he was worth every penny of his billion dollar contract. C.C. struck out 7 over 8 innings and only gave up the one run. The Angels had a couple of defensive miscues which you really can’t do when you’re facing the Yanks. A 5-game series would be a real accomplishment. Speaking of accomplishments - how about the Yankees having a bunch of open seats? It’ll be interesting to see if they drop the prices even a little bit for the ...

... closers this winter as well. But even in the unlikely event that a partner is found, I wouldnt expect anything of intrigue to be coming back. The Reds need to free up the money and shouldnt kill a deal over a few middling prospects.
In minor trade matters the Reds finalized the David Weathers trade last week. They got an undisclosed amount of cash. Thus unceremoniously ends an era in Cincinnati. Godspeed Stormy!

yankeesredsox.com 10/12/2009 — October 9, 2004, the 100+ win Yankees eliminated the Twins in four games to head to the ALCS.
