Auburn defensive end Quentin Groves, a possible first-round pick in this month’s draft, underwent surgery last month to treat an abnormality in his heart’s electrical system, according to Adam Schefter of NFL Network. Groves, per Schefter, is trying to head off a draft-day plunge by writing letters to NFL teams explaining the situation. Groves has visited the Steelers and the Bengals, and will visit the Giants, Jets, Patriots, and 49ers.
COLTS MAKING POST-MARVIN PLANS?
Published 4/11/2008 by Mike Florio at ProFootballTalk.com
With a left knee that knocked him out of action for most of the 2007 season and a right knee that, due to offseason surgery, might not be ready for the start of training camp, the Indianapolis Colts could be making plans for life after Marvin Harrison. Adam Schefter of NFL Network reveals the details about Harrison ...
Colts' Draft to Show Marvin Harrison's Future
Published 4/11/2008 by Michael David Smith at FanHouse
Filed under: Colts, Indianapolis The Indianapolis Colts spent the entire 2007 season insisting that wide receiver Marvin Harrison's knee was just fine, even though it wasn't. Harrison ended up playing in just five regular-season games, and then the Colts put him on the field in the playoffs when he wasn't ready, and his costly fumble is one of the reasons they were upset by the Chargers. So what does that mean about the future of Harrison? Adam Schefter writes at NFL.com (via PFT) that the Colts may show everyone on draft day whether they think Harrison has any gas left in the tank. According to Schefter, the Colts have had visits recently with wide receivers ...
Groves Had Heart Surgery
Published 4/11/2008 by Patrick Dorsey at The NFL Source
Adam Schefter of NFL.com reports that former Auburn defensive end Quentin Groves underwent heart surgery last month to repair a rapid heart beat.
Groves has drawn a good amount of interest, with him already or scheduled to visit the Steelers, Bengals, Browns, Jets Patriots, Giants, and 49er’s.
Even with concerns about his health, Groves will probably still be a late first round pick, going in the mid-twenties. He has great athleticism and a really high ceiling.
To ensure that he wouldn’t be dropping, Groves sent out a letter to all thirty-two teams confessing that he had heart surgery, but also explaining that he’s healthy.
I would hope that something like this ...

Colts gently remind Marvin Harrison that he is older than dirt

Not
in those exact words, mind you, but when a team brings
in Mario Manningham and Early Doucet for closer looks, that does send a
certain message, yes?
The NFL Network's Adam
Schefter is reporting that the Colts have some concerns about Harrison's age and
health. His left knee kept him off the field for most of last year, and he
had surgery on his right knee this offseason. For a 36-year-old man who's played
his entire career on artificial turf, that is not a recipe for success.
From the Colts standpoint, I get it. You've got Peyton Manning at quarterback,
and he's got a handful of elite-level years left in him, and as long as he's
around, you want to make sure ...
