NBA Adds H-O-R-S-E to All-Star Weekend

The NBA is not thinking things through

Here’s something about NBA All-Star Weekend that we don’t get.
Everyone complains and complains about how badly Saturday Night, especially the dunk contest, stinks.
While some people, ie “us”, recommend and develop genius ideas like All-Star 1-on-1 (which exists in certain fictional universes), others beg and plead for…H-O-R-S-E.
Well, you get your wish - the NBA is gonna experiment with it this year via the D-League on Friday night. Via Henry of TrueHoopLand:

NBA Adds D-League H-O-R-S-E To All-Star Weekend
Published 1/17/2008 at FanIQ Blog
Henry Abbott of True Hoops breaks the news that H-O-R-S-E is coming back to NBA All-Star Weekend.
"For years, bloggers and others (or maybe just bloggers) have been wishing that All-Star Weekend would involve a H-O-R-S-E competition.
I talked to the head of the NBA's D-League, Dan Reed, today (more on that later), and he told me the excellent news that this All-Star Weekend's Friday night festivities will include a D-League H-O-R-S-E competition. An official role of the D-League is to ...

Believe it or not, but the NBA actually listens to its fans.
Fantastic news: After years and years of people begging for it, the NBA has finally decided to try it out. The League is experimenting with H-O-R-S-E during All-Star Weekend, and NDBL players are serving as the guinea pigs. Hopefully, they won’t screw this up.

How to Fix the All-Star Game: Let 'Em Pick Teams
Published 2/12/2008 at The Sporting Blog
... Every February, the NBA puts its best and brightest on display with All-Star Weekend. And like clockwork, we bloggers line up to offer smart-alecky thoughts on how to fix the thing. Granted, the league started the ball rolling when they went and tinkered with the Dunk Contest (Remember the Wheel!). And at least one web-spawned idea, the H.O.R.S.E. competition, is being tested out at the D-League level. But for the most part, it's an annual exercise that's more about our cleverness than any realistic proposals. Until now. ...
