Frog at the NFL Combine - Saturday morning update
Published 2/23/2008 by oiler at Sports Frog
... taken the week off from work and have been granted full back stage access to the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. We're also very thankful to be staying at the Marriott Courtside, courtesy of the NFL. I've had two cups of hazelnut coffee already this saturday, connected with my daughter via web cam, and just have to say that this is truly a great experience. I've also been told that next year, the NFL will be taking the top 20 from the swamp as well.
Notable news:
Matt Ryan has decided not to throw at the Combine. What you ...

... But it's hard to argue with a new defensive front, a re-signed quarterback, and a wide receiver. Bastards.
Dolphins. Getting new blood on a team that desperately needed same.
Niners. I don't think anyone they got is going to put them in the playoffs necessarily, but Justin Smith and Deshaun Foster will help them be better.
Losers? Um, the Bengals. Yeah, the Bengals. Even when they try to win, they lose.
Indispensible sorting through all of this? Hashmarks on espn.com, which has rapidly become THE must-stop for NFL news this off-season.

... I won't waste your time any further talking about Favre. There is a ton of Favre-love-fest action all over the web. My personal favorite, and new favorite sports blog is Hashmarks. Matt Mosley is doing a great job on this ESPN blog. It's surprising. I have to say that I really like his style better than most of the other writers who claim to be "blogging" at ESPN.com. ... Dallas Cowboys -- Devin Thomas, WR, Michigan State If Jerry Jones can't strike a deal to move up, he could settle for Jones, the other first-round running back prospect from Arkansas. The better value, however, would be at wide receiver with either Thomas or Manningham. Despite his lack of ideal game experience, Thomas is higher on many boards because he's such a dynamic open-field runner for his size, both after the catch and in the return game. ... Remember, the Jets know that if they don’t take Gholston, the No. 7 Patriots probably will.
My Thoughts: Let’s not worry too much about years two and onward right now, but imagine having Gholston or BT able to play some inside in rotation work. Your front seven could look like this: Ellis, Jenkins, Coleman, Gholston, Thomas, Harris & Pace. I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it.

Pacman grew up in the Atlanta area so he would’ve been very close to some of the friends he probably needed to leave behind. Also, anybody who knows Atlanta knows that we are at the tops in the nation in churches per capita and strip clubs per capita. The dichotomy is part of our nature here.
But then Matt Mosley picks up on the theme of Pacman's intelligence and says this: ...
