Hawaii is no Boise State and Colt Brennan is no Timmy Chang
Yeah, that was ugly. Georgia throttled Hawaii and made Warriors QB Colt Brennan look like a whipping boy who couldn't handle big-time games or teams, therefore meaning he won't be an NFL prospect. We disagree and here's why. [link]

MVN's Football University: Sugar Bowl preview

The last New Year’s day game is the Sugar Bowl and it should be a truly sweet game for those of us watching. This matchup features the nation’s only undefeated team in Hawaii (12-0) against what I believe is the team of the moment in Georgia (10-2).

The Debriefing: Did Hawaii Belong in the BCS? Not Really, But Sure, Why Not?

Hawaii spent a season putting up unfathomable numbers against incapable opponents, and when suddenly facing with a team that's actually ranked among the top 50 (or, in this case, top 5), Georgia stuck an apple in their mouth, then glazed and roasted them while tourists danced about in grass skirts. And now, in light of the pounding that Hawaii took in the Sugar Bowl...

Georgia Puts Hawaii in Their Place

It was such a lovely story. The little engine that could. Hawaii was on a mission to repeat what Boise State had done the year before. Only problem, Boise State had already made everyone aware of the little guy; Georgia was having none of that. ...

New Poll, which Bowl Team didn't merit the Bowl Game they played in

Everyone hates the BCS and most Bowl Games, that isn't a shock to anyone, but what team was outright overmatched, or not matched up with a team it should have been? Trip and I look at five teams that should have gotten a better bowl or something lesser to have a better match up. You can vote on what team shouldn't have been where they were sent to. Between, ILL, Hawaii, Georgia, Missou, & Arkansas

MVN's Football University: Sugar Bowl recap

If you hear the joke, “when was the Sugar Bowl over? Before it started!”, trust me, it’s not a joke. Just ask Colt Brennan. Georgia steamrolled Hawaii 41 to 10 and the score doesn’t even come close to making anyone realize just how bad this game was.

The Fall (And Rise) of the Hawaii Warriors
A Hawaiian's take on the utterly disappointing 2008 Allstate Sugar Bowl in which Georgia defeated Hawaii 41-10. Rosy Tradition
The Rose Bowl did nothing wrong and doesn't need to apologize for their decision. What decision was that you ask? Their decision to invite Illinois to play the Pac-10 champion USC instead of the more popular Georgia or Missouri. First off, I myself would have enjoyed the USC-Georgia match up and jokingly blamed Hawaii for ruining the possibility, but let's put to rest the ridiculous "why ...
Mid Major Disaster
Congratulations BCS, you have given us exactly what most of us expected when you tossed Hawaii into the BCS mix. Why do I say that? We have Hawaii to thank for a USC-Illinois matchup instead of a more evenly matched USC-Georgia matchup. ABC/ESPN officials, mindful of the southern TV markets that would tune in to watch SEC players do situps, pushed for the Bulldogs to receive strong ...
The Bad News-Losing;The Good News-Going Home
The Hawaii Warriors got their asses kicked on Wednesday against the Georgia Bulldogs, 41-10. My boy Colt Brennan, 3 pics, no Tds. What a bust… I’ve been singing the Colt for Heisman tune all year long and this is how he repays me. I guess the rumors were true, easy schedule = bad news when [...]
How Hawaii's loss & the other games changed the face of college football?
Did Illinois deserve a BCS bid? No. Did Hawaii? Yes.  Did Missouri? Yes.  However, the outcome of these and other games just pushed college football back 20 year!  First it was Tulane, the Green Wave, who went undefeated from a small conference and didn't get a whiff of being considered a National Champ.  A few years later, the BCS was formed.  Then little ...
SEC Speed Kills: Colt Brennan Should Have Worn His Seat Belt
Three and out. Just like that, it was over after the first offensive drive for Colt Brennan and Hawaii. Don’t act so surprised. Oh, you’re not? I wasn’t all that shocked either. Sugar Bowl: Hawaii's Dream Season Comes to an Inglorious End
The dream is over. Hawaii's glorious undefeated season crashed and burned New Year's Day at the Sugar Bowl against a demonstrably superior Georgia team. The Warriors got off to a bad start, as they were flagged for delay of game on their first play from scrimmage.  A false start then moved them back five more yards, and they subsequently went three and out—an omen of things to ...
Sugar Bowl: Hawaii's Dream Season Comes to Inglorious End
The dream is over. Hawaii's glorious undefeated season crashed and burned New Year's Day at the Sugar Bowl against a demonstrably superior Georgia team. The Warriors were pushed around by the Bulldogs on both sides of the ball. Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan suffered the brunt of the Georgia defensive attack, taking eight sacks and getting rocked on numerous other hits. Georgia got ...
Don’t use Hawaii as an excuse to leave the little guys out
Yes, Hawaii looked terrible last night. Yes, they were completely dominated by Georgia and were overmatched in all parts of the game. But that doesn’t mean that we should keep the non-BCS schools out of BCS bowl games . May I remind you that schools from non-BCS conference are 2-1 in BCS bowl games: 2005: Utah destroyed Pittsburgh 35-7 2007: Boise State beat Oklahoma 2008: ...
The Allstate Ass-Whuppin’ Bowl
So ya know all that talk about how undefeated Hawaii hadn’t played anybody but maybe they’d beat Georgia and have a strong case against getting left out of the national championship game? Georgia Wants Desperately For You To Love Them
What an awful couple of BCS games. I stopped watching the Sugar Bowl at halftime, sometimes flipping back from TCM's showing of the 1960 classic "The Time Machine" to see if Hawaii had bothered to come back. It was a horrible game. Horrible. Georgia fans obviously don't think so. Kyle over at the Georgia blog Dawg Sports states : Last night, the 'Dawgs served notice that they are a force to ...
Welcome To The System Quarterback Club, Colt [Bowl Games]
Tiny tidbits and news niblets from the OTHER bowl games yesterday ... • It's a depressing, sad label, but it's clear Hawaii's Colt Brennan now owns it: The elite club of "system quarterback." Georgia Bulldogs Chew Up Colt Brennan; Hawaii Leaves Sugar Bowl As A Fraud
During one of the most unpredictable college football seasons in memory, it's nice to have something predictable happen. At least for those who saw through the Hawaii Warriors smoke and mirrors. BCS:Maybe not winning the war
The BCS may not be winning the war against naysayers and playoff enthusiasts but they won a battle on New Years Day. It would be more correct to say that Georgia won it for them, 41-10 over Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl. Questions were answered as to why the only undefeated team left barely cracked the Top 10 in the BCS rankings. There is still trouble ahead. If LSU loses the BCS title ...

Sugar Bowl: Georgia Bulldogs vs Hawaii Warriors Live Thread
One year ago tonight I was writing about how we were on verge of one of the most influential games in bowl history. I'll echo that sentiment again. Boise State proved a talented "mid-major" can play with the big boys and when undefeated, deserves serious consideration for the BCS Championship game. Now the question tonight is whether Hawaii is actually that good. Their best win ...

Sugar Bowl: Hawaii Deserves a Shot at Glory
I feel like the college football world is turned upside-down. There's an undefeated team playing in the Sugar Bowl, while a one-loss team and a two-loss team are vying for the national title. Hawaii (13-0) will face the SEC’s hottest team in the Georgia Bulldogs (10-2) in the Sugar Bowl. I won’t go into how bad this matchup is compared to what we could've had in the Rose Bowl. ...
