Haywood Will Miss Four to Six Months
The Wizards hoped to break a recent trend by making it through an entire season without a rash of injuries. As things stand now, the luck-starved team couldn't even get through a pair of preseason games.

Well, this leaves even more of a hole in the Wizards frontcourt. Either Etan Thomas makes a super fast comeback or McGee has to step-up.

Good morning, sweet world: Wizard woes
Ball Don't Lie — I need to start waking up early to get ready for this monster, so each weekday morning, BDL will look at the morning papers to kill some time. We'll see how long this lasts. Ivan Carter, The Washington Post: "According to sources familiar with the situation, veteran center Brendan Haywood learned Wednesday that he needs surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist and will be out four to six months. The team also learned that forward Antawn Jamison has a right knee contusion, an injury he suffered during ...

See You Next Year, Brendan Haywood
FanHouse — Filed under: Wizards, NBA InjuriesIf Gilbert Arenas' continued medical issues with his knee weren't worrisome enough, losing Brendan Haywood for four to six months because of that pesky wrist injury he suffered in practice this week. The Washington Post's Ivan Carter reports that Haywood needs surgery to repair a torn wrist ligament; the recovery period will keep him out until at least February, and possibly the entire season. Meanwhile, Antawn Jamison has an injury that keeps most players out two months; Jamison, ...

Good News for Jamison, Terrible News for Haywood
SLAM Online — Antawn has a knee contusion but should be ready to go on Opening Night; his teammate Brendan will go under the knife for his wrist, and could miss 4-6 months.

LaVale I Mean JaVale McGee Is Our Savior
Mr. IrrelevantHaywood is out for up to six months, Antawn may be gone ’til December and Gil probably longer than that, but stay medium, Wizards fans, because remember who we drafted: THE VALE OF CASHMERE A.K.A. LaVALE I MEAN JaVALE MCGEE!!!1! Who, you ask? Oh, just the best player on the board at No. 18 in June’s draft, and the guy who busted loose in last night’s game: McGee helped the Wiz even their preseason record at 1-1 by coming off the bench to score 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting ...

Jamison’s Okay.  Haywood, Not So Much.
Dropping Dimes — ... The first preseason game for the Washington Wizards did not go as planned.  Not only is Gilbert Arenas slated to miss some crucial time, but injuries to forward Antawn Jamison and center Brendan Haywood added a little salt in the wound.  News today says that Jamison only has a bruised knee and should be good to go.  Jamison, however, is looking to miss the next four-to-six months with wrist surgery.  ...

Wizards Frankenstein Big Man Project Should Be Entertaining, If Not Totally Effective
The Sporting Blog — Sorry I missed yesterday. I was off making up for all the times I've flubbed facts on this site. So after I sloppily broke down the Wizards injury issues, trying hard to disguise my irrational love for Andray Blatche, that mysterious JaVale McGee went out and killed it in a preseason game. And, going by the Post, Haywood's definitely out a while. Let's get this straight: Jamison's probably going to be fine, soon. Gil should be back in the first month, albeit gradually returning to form. So we're looking at Haywood's absence spelled ...
